She came in rolling an oxygen tank and was in pretty late stage. She had phlegm damp which we could dry up but then turn to a dry phlegm which would cause a worse dry cough. This was through a school clinic where I was supervising. I worked with the other doctors there and the one constant was that any tonification at all would make the symptoms much worse. I would like to think that we were all pretty darn good with herbs but this was inability to tonify was a frustration. She kept going for a few years and then decided to go off the herbs and visit her family around the country. When she came back I was able to see her the day before she died when she was coughing bloody phlegm. That was quite an experience.
