skin: Psoriasis - a syndrome?

I have had a (small) number of patients coming in for psoriasis over the

past 5 years or so. A recurrent pattern in these appears to be a problem of

compliance: they don't seem to want to stick with treatment, even when some

progress is made.

Anyone noted any kind of pattern associating with this condition? Are there

documented psychological factors?

In several (more) cases of eczema, no problem of this sort. In fact, the

patients are tend to be very compliant and " patient " . These cases tend to

have clear associations with other, more somatic Sx/conditions, e.g.

diabetes, or allergies.

Another possibility: something to do with my education, experience, or just

personal style coming into play with such cases. I recall a notable

teacher once remarking, perhaps joking, that he tended to filter-out " Liver

patients " , by not answer the phone or answering messages quickly enough.

(Their impatience would take them elsewhere.)
