How about a condition seemingly opposite:

In winter months, hardening of the palmar skin on a couple of distal

digits. To the point that the skin splits, down to where it bleeds; s/t

painful. First the right thumb one year. Starting on the left index finger

(as well as continuing on the rt 1st) the second year. On the lt index,

also dry, s/t subtle scaliness into the middle digit.

Responds to hot water soaks, with epsom salts or vinegar.

Any ideas?

sure

1. winter - water rules and seasonal qi has passed from Metal which

flourished in autumn

now son rules and is somewhat unfilial to his mother

2. digits dry - Dryness in skin ruled by Metal

3. thumb - ruled by LU which is yin of Metal

4. right thumb because LU lives on the right

5. index is ruled by LI and ought to live on the right unless the

condition prevails over years

conclusion: this is a classical picture of a LU yin depleted condition

of many years

tongue signs will confirm, as also face color, natural history, seasonal

preponderance & horary disposition

for fun one may palpate the r K chain in thorax and find a positive

manifestations

if all this is as one thinks it ought to be:

use 5 shu clearly horary mother son combination to influence healing,

with skin clearing in some 7 sessions on a weekly basis

in which case the migraine or sciatica or tendency to sprain foot or an

interesting temper and temperament will also clear

with no one ever having treated these

I'm not familiar with this, i.e. " horary disposition " (I know do know, in

various perspectives, the cycle of 12 2hour periods associated with the

channels/organs).

That's the " front shu " pts -- K23-27, right side?

This refers to " antique points " shu (well/spring/stream/river/sea)? I

perhaps should (remember from schooling) but don't quite get " horary " in

this context?

Definite migraine association, and possibly temper/temperment, but any more

specifics as to the " interesting " -ness of the temper involved?

>with no one ever having treated these

Typo or irony?

Thanks,

if you confirm LU and if it chronic there will be a secondary element,

the more noisy one

then one will Mother the one and Son the other in their legitimate

sequence in any 120 minuit block over 24 hours

Hi Chris!

The *first* thing I would try would be hand lotion, followed the same

day by a humidifier. Winter heating dries out the air and causes dry skin.

Karen,

Is the fish oil taken internally, or applied externally? Does it matter what

kind of fish oil?

Have you tried that?

Andrea,

It is taken internally, high quality salmon oil, lots of omega 3. It comes

in capsules or liquid. Nordic is a good brand.

Karen
