hi everybody

i have here a patient that came to me for a simple

stiff neck and told me in the course of the treatment

that he suffers since childhood from cold in the

bones. the cold feeling is felt specially in very dry

and hot weather, which creates a need for blankets,

and becomes better being in very dry, hot weather

(desert climate). The patient is also depressed since

childhood and recently was operated on a melanoma in

the eyes. signs and symptoms of deficient immunity are

present in the actual life. patient is male, 37 years

old and seemingly very strong and healthy with a

strong physical constitution. strong problems with

motherbonding.

I am a twina therapist and only next year will finish

my studies and would be interested to hear opinions

about the phenomen of cold in the bones, and, would

appreciate references to ancient texts.

thanks

evelien

hello, dr holmes,

thanks very much for your answer. First of all your

answer gave a train of thought of other signs and

symptoms that would very well fit this pattern c.q.

patient complains about feeling himself to be " a piece

of cloth that has holes in the weaving " now if i

understand you right i should look for kid lu, zheng

qi, wei qi, and the above quotations could be a

deficiency in wei qi. other: vertigo.Kid

heat signs fire metal, as far as i can see are not

present. There is however irritability, lack of

patience, a feeling of burning just below umbilicus

that might be absent for months.

patient has aversion to touch, noise, people c.q. the

intrusion of outside is felt to be too invasive

mostly,

Could this point to deficient wei qi as well?

the connection between melanoma and lung def at birth

is not clear to me.

patient suffers mentally and has not been able to

establish a meaningfull expression of himself into the

world, looks for protective emotional relationships.

my feeling is that the prognose for this otherwise

very intelligent and able man is low if no adequate

diagnose is made and treated accordingly,

yours evelien

at this stage, stay with the physical, signs you can see and calibrate,

things you

can touch and feel and place into the right profiles

you are probably an artistically inclined healer with great sensitivity

to emotional

fluxes. while this is valuable at other times, at this critical time it

stands in the way

and may confuse issues.

i am also getting the impression that you may not be as familiar with 5

E patterns

as i would presume you are, which can stand in the way of our communication

" the connection between melanoma and lung def at birth

is not clear to me "

the connection is loud and clear and actually quite insistent, you

cannot but listen

to it

at birth LU yin runs deficient

off the bat it cannot control Wood and make it behave

Water qi is impoverished, but not ill

at puberty and in later life K Son runs deficient

this also provides little support to LV Wood

LU soon becomes murderous to Wood

Wood as a secondary element runs in Excess

pattern of LU def with LV excess is established

order of the day:

work with LU signs i sent in earlier and establish LU

dr. holmes,

great, it falls into place and advice is taken with

thanks. furthermore: after four years of studying tcm

, however intensive, i could hardly presume to be

familiar with the five elements at the necessary level

needed to diagnose with care and precision. real level

comes only with much study and experience.

yours,

evelien
