I appreciate your point about making Acupuncture care affordable and

increasing access to care but when does it become counterproductive.

As I see it, one of the complaints about Western Medicine is that no

one has

time to listen. I don't imagine myself superior to Medical doctors.

If I can only

spend 5- 10 minutes with a patient, I too, may not be able to really

get to the

bottom of the problem. I may just be listening to the superficial

symptoms. One of the reasons we can " cure " things that Western Medicine

can't is

that we are going slowly enough to hear. The patient eventually

opens up

enough to reveal the core issues.

Under insurance and Medicare we will have to work the way doctors do.

They probably don't enjoy seeing so many patients in a day but they have

no

choice.

We should learn from their mistakes.

Zinnia,

I am not sure where you are located but we already have acupuncture covered

by some insurances and workers comp in certain states. The Medicare

coverage bill will open this up to more policies.

This is really a non-issue and will not affect your practice as you choose

to have it. This will simply open up more patients to the opportunity to

have acupuncture, either with their insurance or Medicare.

As these are not people who tend to have lots of disposable income, we can

share our gifts of health with this underserved group. I would hope that

you see merit in helping these people and our profession.
