Guest guest
I hope it's ok if I post this to this list, as while at present this problem only pertains to those who own livestock animals (we have horses, dairy goats, and chickens on our small farm), I see the potential for this program to be very far reaching, and it may soon extend to all animals, including small pets. The United States Department of Agriculture is in the initial stages of implementing a plan that will require anyone who owns any livestock (horses, cows, goats, pigs, sheep, chickens of any sort) to microchip their animals with an ID tag, register their premises with an ID number, and track any movement of any animal, down to the minute, any time it leaves their farm or enters another premise with an ID. Those of us who have small farms who raise food for our own consumption find this frightening in the extreme, and a threat against our way of life. You can find out more about this program at the following website: www.stopanimalid.org You can read the actual draft documents on the USDA website: www.usda.gove/nais Look at the two links on the upper right of the page titled Draft Strategic Plan and Draft Program Standards. Please, find out more about this government program which is the first step in completely scrutinizing every aspect of our lives. I think once you read more about it you'll be moved to do something to fight it, and if you are, please write your legislators asking them to fight it.
