Guest guest
I know that in the Dragon Snot recipe it calls for 2 raw eggs. I have been drinking the TN with the oils and thought i'd add the raw eggs-- at least 1 to get started. I was reading that it is not safe to ingest raw eggs because of possible salmonella...how true is this? I buy organic eggs (they are not pastured nor can I find pastured) but are organic. Is it safe to add and egg? Marci
Guest guest
Oh this is a fascinating subject. How much do you know about the hens diet? You see, back in the days of the family farm (both of my parents grew up on a farm or in a farming community) NO ONE worried about salmonella from eggs. From raw chicken yes, but not from organic free range (truely free range eating all the bugs and all they want) eggs. You can even keep them just fine for 2 weeks out of the fridge and zero problem. You see, the standard diet for hens (and for all squemish quit reading here) is their own wastes. Hey it is the perfect recycling! Also other chicken meat. That is what they give them. So these poor chickens (and yes, this can be organic chickens too) eat their own wastes and there neighbors. When that started happening, there started to be a risk of salmonella from eggs. Free range eggs no worries. Ramona next week ask me about mad cow disease! Quoting Marci <twilli55: > I know that in the Dragon Snot recipe it calls for 2 raw eggs. Guest guest
Absolutely Safe!!! Let's put this in perspective. 1. How many people do you know who've ever had salmonella??? 2. How many people do you know who know of anyone who've ever had salmonella??? 3. How serious is salmonella??? 4. How do you handle salmonella??? 1. Out of the thousands of patients, students, and clients I've ever had, I've never seen, or heard of a case. 2. I don't know of anyone including many other Doctors who have. 3. Salmonella is no more serious than a cold or flu. By actual ratio, more people die from colds and flus each year than ever have from Salmonella. 4. The handling for Salmonella is the same as a cold or flu = plenty of Echinacea and Total Tonic. Salmonella is more of a Black PR / Scare campaign against one of the best foods on the planet than a serious threat. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Good data Ramona. The commercial meat industry (not just chickens) is horrendous. I won't even get into how they slaughter Pigs. I'd like everyone to keep their suppers down and not have nightmares tonite. Love, Doc PS. What about Mad Cow Disease??? Guest guest
Oh this is a fascinating subject. Oh! I agree with you here! NO ONE worried about salmonella from eggs. From raw chicken yes, but not from organic free range (truly free range eatingall the bugs and all they want) eggs. This is true! I raise hens for eggs and we have never had any problem with them. We eat them raw, cooked and nearly every day. I personally believe eggs are one of the healthiest food on earth. You can even keep them just fine for 2weeks out of the fridge and zero problem. I have stored eggs for 6 months, non-refrigerated, just put them in salt. You see, the standard diet for hens(and for all squeamish quit reading here) is their own wastes. Our dogs love the hens house crunchies too (plus kitty box crunchies!). Also other chicken meat. When we have butchered chickens we give the innards to the hens, they love it and it keeps them healthier. We also give them the rib cages of deer after hunting. Many people believed hens only eat grains and such, but they really are bug eaters and clean up any and all bug they can catch. I think our hens eat more bugs in the summer than anything else. We have not had tics in the yard since we got hens. Kimi
Guest guest
I can answer questions 1 & 3... my husband (then just my beau) had salmonella back in 1990. He had horribly loose bowels and got over it within a day or two. We still don't know how he got it! Guest guest
My best friend's daughter got salmonella about two years ago. She was sick enough that they hospitalized her due to dehydration. I have no idea if she got it from eggs or not. She was at a bikers' rally with her father. Who knows what she was eating.
