Guest guest
Hey there, I have recently had a baby and since she was born I have had quite a bit of gas -- she also is suffering from some sort of something -- our son had colic pretty bad -- I am thinking she may have it also -- she cries quite a bit at night and is only okay if being moved, jiggled, bounced, etc. all night long -- my chiro suggested digestive enzymes and probiotics -- how can i get my gut back on track? i am breastfeeding so i am not sure how much cleansing i can do right now -- could someone point me in the right direction? also, how can i get my bowel function regular again? thanks. Guest guest
You can't really cleanse while breastfeeding as toxins are easily transfered to breast milk. Digestive enzymes and probiotics are good additions. How is your bowel function? Are you constipated/diahrea or are you just gassy? This would make a difference in your treatment! Guest guest
Dear Elizabeth, Good to hear from you again, and to discover you've had a new addition to the family. Obviously, you're a coola doula (sorry, couldn't resist ;-) While you can not get into any truly serious cleansing, you could do some milder forms, and of course your diet could be improved upon. This is where I'd start. Plant Enzymes would be a good idea, but you also need to get a lot of protein into your body. Total Nutrition would be vital. Going to your health food store and getting a mild cathartic like Cascara Sagrada would also help. Stay away from Wormwood and Poke root. Fennel is great for gas. My Intestinal Cleanse for Kids (used to be Intestinal Cleanse #3) would also help all the way around. The Total Nutrition would benefit both you and the baby and would improve the quality of your milk. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Okay -- I have some TN that I made up awhile ago -- how long will it last? Can I still use it? Also, would plant enzymes be the same as digestive enzymes? And would you juice fennel, get a supplement or what? I bought something for my daughter called Gripe WAter and it has fennel in it as well as ginger -- I don't really know if it has helped her or not -- but it also has methylparaben and propylparaben in it which makes me a bit nervous about it -- Would the Intestinal Cleanse for Kids be for me? or for her? Thanks for the advice. Will this help her colic also? Guest guest
Most TN has a shelf life of 9 months to 2 years depending on when you open it, is it exposed to sun light?, Moisture? etc. Yours is probably fine. Plant enzymes are natural enzymes that are directly from and part of the plants they come from. I'd use powdered Fennel and put it in a veggie cap or sprinkle it over your salads. Tastes great so sprinkle away if you want. ;-) I've never heard of this "Gripe Water" so can't advise you there. Ginger IS excellent for gastrointestinal disorders. Use the real thing, and stay away from anything with "Methyl" or "Propyl" in it. These are Cancer causing alcoholic compounds. I too would be nervous about using them. Stick with the natural stuff. The Intestinal Cleanse for Kids is for you, as it is gentle and good for women who are preggers or lactating. You can give it to your kids too and it WILL help with the colic. Remember your Total Tonic.
