Guest guest
I was planning to make some red beans and rice. I soaked the beans in distilled water for two days at room temperature. When I opened the pot today, they smelled a little funky. Some were sprouting. I rinsed them and stuck them in the fridge. I'm not sure if they're okay, or not. Did I do something wrong, or are they fine to use? -Raine

Guest guest
That was a little long usually 8 hours is enough. Feel them if they are not soft and just sprouted you can still cook them. If they are soft then they have rotted. I usually make the soaking water luke warm it helps them soake faster. Pat --- Raine <rainelovesj wrote: > I was planning to make some red beans and rice. Guest guest
Hi! I make my own red beans as well as chick peas all the time. Those beans have gone off. I think you should throw them out. I usually soak mine over night and then some, before cooking on a Saturday. You might beable to eat them as sprouts in salad, but 2 days is really to long to soak. For sprouts you don't soak them. You might get sick eating those bad beans. Regards bayareauk herbal remedies , Raine <rainelovesj@s...> wrote: > > I was planning to make some red beans and rice. Guest guest
I think you might have soaked them too long. I usually only soak beans overnight. I haven't ever soaked them for two days so I don't know how they will turn out. Jackie
