Herbal Remedies - anyone good with herbal remedies for cats?

I have a cat that has bad re accuring urinary tract problems,to the point were she urinates blood. Keep taking her to the is getting expensive and no clue as to why it keeps coming back. HELP!

Hi!

 

I have two cats and have wondering about herbal remedies for them, if

ever needed. I don't have a answer to your question. My male cat had a

bladder infection a few years back. It seemed serious, and I took him

to vet. It cleared up with medication. I've been told this sort of

infection can harm their kidneys, so you need to worry. Perhaps

another or different vet.

There are not too many herbs which are great for cats.They have a

low/non tolerance to many things, especially Essential Oils and many

herbs can not be used.

Horsetail(shave grass) for 2-3 weeks may help also.

Boil 1 cup water.Pour over 1 tsp dried herb or 1 tblsp fresh.Cover,

steep for 15 mins.Strain and cool.Give this twice a day at the dosage

rate of 1/2 -1 tblsp morning and night.

Homeopathics-Pulsatilla 30C or

Rhus tox 30C

may help-homeopathic review of the cats condition is useful in

determining the remedy needed.

thanks ill have to try that. they said she could have bladder stones

that may be causing the problem but the only way to tell is an $80

xray and if she has them then surgery. right now i cant afford that

sadly. shell be fine for a month or more then she'll have

a " breakout " . I will definatly try those vitamins and the horsetail.

I have heard a raw diet helps cats with this problem. I know our old cat nearly died not too long ago and perked right up when I put her on a raw diet. Prior to that she was skin and bones and could not jump up on the couch. Now she is acting like a 8 year old and not an 18 year old cat.

This is a very painful condition for the cat and whilst herbal

treatment and nutritional supps are fine I hope you realise that this

situation could become far worse in a fairly quick time frame.

A Raw food diet for cats is also essential.They are true carnivores

and dry food and canned is not what they were EVER intended to eat.

what kind of raw diet? whats safe to feed her?

Is sub acute UTI? ill have to ask my vet, what does he need to do to

check this. Money is extremly tight. and i have 4 other cats and a dog

that are counting on me for food.

First question; what kind of food are you feeding your cat? Look for one with a high fiber low protien combination, and add some human fruits and vegtable into her diet (cats love melons) Next question: what kind of cat litter are you using? The clumping kind that is not organic has glue in it which causes re-occurring UTi's in cats who are suseptable. Next how much fluid is your cat drinking? A cat who is suseptable to UTI's should be drinking 2 cups of water a day minimum, spike it with tuna water or give her cat milk to get her to drink it. Herbs work great on cats, mix some powdered marshmallow root, uva ursi, nettles, corn silk, and couch grass and mix it with AM food. See if your cat has a tendancy towards fruits and vegetables high in Vitamin C, such as spinich, melons, or berries; if so feed it to her on a daily basis. Alot of cats that get UTI's also have food allergies so look at the food label on whatever you feed her and look for Wheat or

yeast additives.
