Guest guest Posted December 2, 2005 Report Share Posted December 2, 2005 Tonda, In addition to what someone said about changing your eating habits to more natural and organic foods you will have to up your exercise if you want to lose weight. If you are seriously overweight and not cardiovascularly fit you will need to work up to 60 -90 minutes a day, 5 or 6 days a week of cardiovascular exercise. And when I say work up to, you might start with 20 mintues a day, next week do 25, the next week 30... or as much as you can handle. Walking is great, but you need to walk hard enough to sweat and make it slightly difficult to carry on a conversation. As your cariovascular system becomes more fit you can cut that back to 30 minutes a day 5 or 6 days a week. You can tell you are becoming more fit if your resting heart rate decreases - in the 60's is pretty good. You will also need to lift weights - 3 or 4 days a week. Muscle burns fat - the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. Work each muscle group - chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, quads, hamstrings, calves and abs. Do 2 or 3 exercises for each muscle group with 3 sets of each exercise. The weight should be heavy enough that it is not easy. A couple of sets of dumbbells is all you need. You don't need to all of these everyday, but rotate. Maybe do chest, back, shoulders one day; biceps, triceps the next and legs the next. I would do abs everytime you life. Its not easy, but it is so worth it. It will take a lot of time, but I have found in my life that I make time for the things that are important to me. You mentioned 3 kids... with the changes you make in your diet (natural, unprocessed and organic) and exercise you will be able to have the energy to keep up with your kids and enjoy life.
