Hello all===Help with sleep problems

I just do not sleep well, bottom line. I work 10 hr days and my job

is a high stress job. No matter how tired I am i just can not get

good sleep.

 

Any Ideas on what I could do I really hate takeing perscription drugs.

Oh Michele,

 

I understand just what you are saying. I sleep so little it amazes me that I still function. Last Friday I was up 24, slept 8 on Sat up 18 hours, slept 5 hours then up 31 hours. This is the pits. The doctor put me on sleeping pills. I fall to sleep okay but I'm up within 4 to 5 hours and can't go back to sleep.

 

Any and all suggestions are welcome. If you come across anything in your search, Michele, please share.

The best handling would be to go for a long walk after work and before bed. Walk past your exhaustion, looking around to your environment, until you feel your attention being outwards rather than inwards.

Hi All!

 

I take melatonin for sleep. I take two 3mg tabs just before bed. When I am sleeping well - then I only take one 3mg tab.

The melatonin in our bodies is made when it gets dark. Having a night light on will subdue melatonin manufacturing.

It may take as long as a week to really notice the benefits with a refreshing wake up.

I also have to practice biofeedback relaxation to go to sleep. The old brain is running 100 miles an hour.

hi, have you thought of what you're sleeping on? i put an air mattress with a feather bed on top of my mattress and box spring. i'm pretty high in the air, but i sleep like a baby. the air mattress takes away all pressure points and the feather bed just comforts me. as a matter of fact, i put a new air mattress on my bed last night, but didn't have the right air pump so i had to sleep on just the mattress and feather bed. i tossed and turned and complained the whole night!!!!!!! enjoy this day He has made, gloria

I use Valerian root for sleeping and for nerves, but I have to take about three lol but they work good....also Melatonin get that and take it, and you Will sleep lol....stuff from the doctor is habit forming, I have a sister in law on some from the doctor and she either sleeps all the time or not enough and she is so depentent on it..brendaAnne <anne_white53 wrote: Ques. There are also OTC sleeping-aids that can be purchased;(Sominex;etc.)

Course any pill tablet otc or prescrip. can be " addictive " .

 

These are some of the causes of Insomnia that I have thought of:

 

1. Room is either too light or too dark.

2. Room is either too hot or too cold.

3. Outside noise-pollution.

4. Going to bed hungry is not good.

5. Sleeping on a lousy-mattress doesn't help.

6. Taking is a hot-bath or shower is important.

7. Drinking any Herbal-Tea is good; esp. Valerian-Tea.

8. Hot-milk or Cocoa-made with milk is a tried and true method.

9. T.V. turned low can be relaxing. 10. A snack high in Protein.

11. A heating-pad or electric-blanket can help induce drowsiness.---
