Guest guest
i hate the way these pills make me feel. I used to do a natural antidepresant combining st. johns wart and a few other things i can't recall now. The issue is that i recall that i can not take st. johns wart while the chemicals from my anti depresant are out of my system. That can take a while and i'm not sure what to do during the process of weaning myself off the chemicals. ideas?

Guest guest
It shouldnt' take that long for anti depressants to leave the system. 2 weeks time or less for many of them. I am not sure why they'd want you to wait on taking the St. Johns until after it's completely gone....if they interact it wouldnt be in a bad way, I believe they counter act each other, and that wouldnt matter since you're getting off one. But I'm no expert in this particular matter. Erin --- red feather <xxx_red_feather_xxx wrote: > i hate the way these pills make me feel. Guest guest
Erin You can't take St. Johns Wort along with any Psy. meds it will have serious effects, some have come close to death from the mix, it is not because of the St. Johns Wort but the meds.As for 2 weeks, if she did that she may be in the hospital. It can take as long as 6-8 weeks to come off med dependency. Research will benefit in the long run on this matter. To the poster of this comment. I speak from 13 years experience on this matter so please learn from this. I was on as many as 12 different meds at once for what I was told was bi-polar. I am now drug free and have never had a problem and am in better health for it. Talk to your doctor and MAKE him understand YOUR choice for YOUR body. doctors believe they control your body, and psy doctors are the worst about this, they think they make the choice over YOUR body. YOU own, control and live in the body not them, so DO NOT ask him to help you do this, TELL him to help you. You need to do this one med at a time two at most, have him give you the dosing level for each week to drop off the meds. every week you will go down more. after each med is down start the next. Many will tell you do do all at once and in two weeks, if you present this to your doctor he will refuse to help you and not take you seriously, you have to present a sound solid reasonable choice in this matter, not a cold turkey kill it now method as suggested. As you come off the meds you will feel bad, I suggest drinking lots of lemon water w/o sugar and taking panther piss every day twice a day. Today right now go out and buy fish oil, organic would be best but if you can't afford it get any. take no less then 6,000mg a day every day, you can split it up to three doses. fish oil acts as a mood stabilizer (please Google it) it has a similar effect as Prozac w/o the side effects. Vit B6 is perhaps natures anti-depressant. it is great for all mood disorders. take no more then 50mg a day more and you will cause nerve damage in hands and feet. B12 has a similar effect as B6 the combo will not hurt but help. Add a Bcomplex to the mix C is important I take 6,000mg a day. to get your memory back ginko baloba, You can start all of the above right now and it will not hurt. St. Johns Wort is not good for everyone and may not work. Please be slow and careful in doing this. you can do it, but you have got to present this in a sound matter or no one will take you seriously, a two week crash will lead you in the funny room at the hospital. I know first hand I did it. Poneyboy On Wed, 2005-11-23 at 14:56 -0800, Erin wrote: > It shouldnt' take that long for anti depressants to > leave the system. 2 weeks time or less for many of > them. Guest guest
I appologize for being incorrect, I was speaking from personal experience as well. I was on psych meds for over 10 years and never had withdrawal issues, and also combined St. Johns Wort with Prozac, with the Dr knowing, and it worked much better, enabling me to go off the prozac completely after being on it 9 years. My experience may not be the right thing for most people though, so didnt mean to give bad advice Erin --- Tasana Computers <poneyboy wrote: > Erin > You can't take St. Johns Wort along with any Psy. > meds it will have > serious effects, some have come close to death from > the mix, it is not > because of the St. Johns Wort but the meds.As for 2 > weeks, if she did > that she may be in the hospital. Guest guest
Erin It was not necessarily bad advice. When I was 13 I started using street drugs and got into some heavy, hard stuff (1982) I started smoking when I was about 10-11. I was using just anything I could get my hands on. Then in 86 I had a life changing event (Most can guess) and I stopped the drugs and smoking that day, no slow system just stopped. I had with-drawl but it was easy for me. Why I had a very devoted reason to quit, the drive and will power were there for a different reason. In your case of coming off meds you may have had a similar reason, maybe not the same, perhaps kids, spouse, or a total devotion to help yourself. In order to do that you had a devoted motivation. I am not saying the poster of this message does not have the same drive, what I was trying to say is we do not know her abilities or drive. and she may have to take it slower then you did or I did when coming off street drugs. You were not incorrect, it did and does work for some, and others have a harder time. as for St. Johns Wort. You were very fortunate. I do not know why any doctor would have approved mixing this herb with that med, he did not do his research. When I was first making the switch I asked doctors, pharmacist and herbalist and they all replied NO. I Googled it and found case after case of people doing some weird things when mixing. Once such case, a woman was making a switch and her doctor approved the mix and then about a week or so later she had disappeared. her husband found her in the middle of a busy highway running between cars, she thought she was God. There was case after case like this. St. Johns Wart has a serious effect on the mind. My son takes it and it seems to help him, but that is the last herb I suggest to people because of the effect it can have. the list I posted for options has a much safer and lasting effect. I am sorry I was not more clear and led you to believe that you were wrong, you weren't just keep in mind when giving advice to those wanting to come off meds, suggest the slowest safest method. What I was concerned about is if the posted tried what did work for you, or when I came off street drugs, and ended up in hospital it may have had serious drawbacks. I am all for people coming off meds and I will always give that advice and I encourage you to continue to also, never give up on what you believe, but remember as someone once said (some need milk before they eat meat) you and I were able to pull up to the rib-eye, (if your vegan sorry for the illustration) but some have to have a glass of milk and it is always the best route to offer the milk first. I hope you still help people to kick the meds and I have not discouraged you in this, we need all the help we can get to get the people to better health.
