Kidney Cysts

My 83 year old father was found to have microscopic hematuria (blood)

in his urine last week so the doctor ordered an x-ray of his urinary

tract where they inject him with dye and then take the pictures.

The results show that his left kidney is shriveled and non-functioning

(possibley due to his kidneys shutting down after his bypass surgery

many years ago - this is my guess) and his right kidney has cysts.

The doctor has scheduled him for an ultrasound to see if these

cysts are fluid filled or fiberous.

Of course, my Dad is freaking out and I'm trying to gather as much

information as I can about this condition, including any alternative

things he can do to streghthen his remaining cystic kidney.

Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated.

" Have him take all the tests and then when you know the diagnosis then

let us know; ex. are the cysts fluid or fiber...this is important. " ---
