Guest guest
Hello De Ann I think the best thing that we can do apart from doing the food changes needed for better health is to be upbeat about ourselves - because I know that I have been very down on myself for allowing myself to become so fat, instead of being compassionate with the me I know is OK. You mentioned that when you can afford it you will do the liver cleanse...but you can do a modified cleanse without too much money. I know that the Doc has some great products and one day you will no doubt be able to get some, but I am in the same boat being far away in South Africa with an exchange rate that makes it difficult for me to buy things from America, so how about we do a simple cleanse with the foodstuffs we can get hold of? Foods that are good for the liver (and I am happy to be corrected if any of this is wrong, but this is info I have been gathering over the past few years) - hot water and lemon, beets and beet greens, all greens, spirulina, papaya, and of course plenty of fluids, water mainly and herb teas like dandelion root, parsley, ginger, nettle, peppermint and rosemary, also salads, sprouts, potassium broth, fruits and fruit smoothies. Apples are really good as well. In fact there is a drink you can make with 8 oz apple juice, 1 lemon freshly squeezed, 8 oz distilled or filtered water, 1 clove of garlic and a chunk of ginger as big as the tip of your thumb - mix it all up in a blender and drink on an empty stomach in the morning. How is that for starters? Marloe
Guest guest
Dear Marloe, Very good advice. Now, where in SA are you??? I'm planning on purchasing a farm over there for one of my research projects, and expect to be there for a few months out of every year. I've even considered retiring over there (many years in the future, I'm only 60 :-) In Health and Love, Doc PS. I also want to study up on some of those great "Traditional" herbal medicines you have over there. ;-) Doc Shillington727-447-5282Doc - marloe herbal remedies Thursday, November 17, 2005 2:59 PM Herbal Remedies - Hey De Ann... Guest guest
This is great I have everything except the distilled water and ginger. Should be to much of a problem to get those. What is spirulina? Potassium broth? Will star adding things next week on my shopping trip to Aldie's (low cost store) their vegie and fruit section is getting a little better. Thanks for the wonderful tips. De Ann - marloe herbal remedies Thursday, November 17, 2005 1:59 PM Herbal Remedies - Hey De Ann... Guest guest
Here you go De Ann... Potassium Broth Carrots - washed, unpeeled, chopped fine Potatoes - ¼ inch outer peeling with skin Parsley - a bunch Onions - large amounts Garlic - large amounts Cabbage Beet tops Celery Any other vegetables on hand Wash and chop the vegetables, then simmer in a large pot of boiling water for not more than 40 minutes. Strain and drink the essence (broth) only. (Strained vegetables to the compost. I dig mine in the heap to discourage flies.) Excess essence may be stored for up to 2 days in glass containers in the fridge. Very useful in restoring lost electrolytes and minerals. Beneficial in general. It really isn't bad, believe me:) I shall be making a pot of broth on Monday morning. How about you? I am having a party tomorrow, (at least three healthy salads to go with the copious amounts of meat South Africans eat! Staying away from the garlic bread will be hard so I am going to try and stay busy!). I will need the broth then so I will make some on Monday morning. Want to join me? ) Have a good weekend yourself Marloe
