Guest guest
I've been looking around for factual information on drinking distilled water and have some questions maybe someone can help me with. Ok, I know that the leeching of minerals is bogus. The only minerals that are leeched are the ones that shouldn't be there in the first place . All the organic minerals that your body can utilize stay put. But, I have read that distilled water becomes acidic due to it's reactivity with CO2. Now, what I want to know is: 1. How acidic does it become? 2. Does it pose a problem that can't be taken care of with a proper diet? I have also read that distilled water is not living water and it has to be 'reenergized' through various methods like reintroducing trace minerals and placing it in the sun. I don't understand this. Distilled water is only condensed steam created from water that has reached the boiling point. It only changed it's physical form for a short period. How can it be dead? Can anyone explain that one to me or is it just another lie to fund the " newest, greatest water purifier ever " that seems to be on sale everywhere in the known universe. I came across some information about deionized water that seems interesting. Anyone have any information on deionizers? From what I've seen they are a pretty penny that I can't see spending when distillers ar relatively inexpensive. Anyone ever use one that can tell a difference between that and distilled water? Ok, last one. Is there anything I should be on the lookout for when choosing a distillation aparatus and is plastic a good storage container for the finished product or would glass be better? I have read that the water will leech things from the plastic. Once again, I don't really believe that one, but if you can convince otherwise so be it. Thank you for your time and energy, Tim
Guest guest
A little bit "iffffy", but #2 plastic is quite stable though not perfect. You definitely don't want to store DMSO in #2 nor in any plastic. But distilled water in it is a lesser of evils. Best is if you make your own and keep in either glass or Plastic #1 which is the best and most stable of the plastics. I was always told NEVER to drink it as well, but my question is, what about the plastic containers? Does the water leach all manner of nastiness from the plastic? I am trying to conceive and phytoestrogens are a major factor for me. Also, is there any reason that the Haitian sea salt is better than any other sea salt? Thanks for your time. Guest guest
Dear Sherri, Look on the bottom of the container. There will be a little triangle with a number in it. This will tell you which is which ;-) All the best, Doc Doc Shillington727-447-5282Doc - herbal remedies-owner Thursday, February 01, 2007 7:54 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - Re: Distilled water question How do you tell what plastic a bottle is? I am prone to getting Fiji water and then using the bottle with my own reverse osmosis water. Would you know what plastic this is? Guest guest
You can get one at Sears, or Sam's Club. A lot of places carry them. RO is very good, but make sure you keep your filters in good shape. You can also get a half decent Water Distillery unit at Sears. I bought some water at wal-mart that is called Vita-Water. It says reverse osmosis water on the bottle. It has vitamins and nutrients in it. I checked the labels and was pleasantly surprised by what was in it. Also I have been looking at water filters and air purifiers and how do I go about picking the best kind with price in mind as well. Also Kevin Trudeau recommends a vacuum with a HEPA filter. Wal-Mart has one bag vacuum that uses a HEPA filter so I was thinking about getting that one. Does this sound like a good one? Guest guest
Dear Anne, Suggest you do a thorough search through our message archives for ALL THE STORY, but in a nut shell, distilled is best, and you can pick up a cheap unit a Sears which works very well. Since you're on well water, the distillery is the way I'd go if I were you. I am on well water and live in a rural area. I read somewhere that while distilling can take out most of the problem it could also potentiate some of the pesticide/herbicide that it can't remove and make it more dangerous. We also know that using RO is not energy or cost efficient as it would keep our pump going all the time. In the meantime have been purchasing bottled water that is supposed to have had everything done to it and is in the heavy blue plastic container but would prefer to make my own and not have to lug 3 G containers around. Your thoughts? Thanksanne"Dr. Ian Shillington" <DocShillington wrote: You can get one at Sears, or Sam's Club. A lot of places carry them. Guest guest
Dear Cheryl, In regards the 25 lbs, even I go a little off diet during the winter months when it's colder out there LOL . I tend to be a fair weather runner so during the winter months I run at the gym or only on warm days, so don't get as much as during the summer. During the last year, the work load has been intense so with the lack of my usual running regimen, a little extra Organic Sprouted Pasta, and voila, 25 extra pounds. ;-) These are now gone of course and I accomplised this on diet alone this time since this is my latest area of research. I wanted to see what could be done on diet alone without having to resort to exercise, and found some very interesting things. I found that it can be done, but best is a combination of diet and exercise. One doesn't want to overdo the exercise to begin with (for me this wasn't a problem since I can get out there any day of the week and run 10 miles), but most people don't have my background and training. I just recently posted a sample diet to the list, but this will be finetuned over the next couple of weeks. Glad you like the new format for the list. Much love, Doc Doc Shillington727-447-5282Doc - herbal remedies-owner Thursday, February 08, 2007 3:44 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - Re: Distilled water question Doc, I am really enjoying getting messages from you. I'm so glad you changed your outgoing emails to include those of us who are on no mail. From time to time in the past I'd sift through all the messages on Herbal Remedies just to find the ones you wrote. Now, your messages--and only your messages--come right to my personal mailbox. I love it--thanks!I do have a couple of questions. 1) What are you personally doing about the income tax? We have known about this for years, but are afraid to put our business and personal life at risk. Sad, I know. They just have so much power it seems futile. We're thinking that one thing we'll do is buy a little farm in Idaho, or thereabouts, to scurry off to if and when things get too bad in CA. 2) I've read that distilled water is *not* good for us because it removes the minerals. And RO wastes so much water in the process. I'd rather drink spring water, I think. By the way, I loved the keys by the bed tip. I'd never thought of that before, but now, that's where they are at night. Great idea! One more thing, where did you find 25 lbs to lose! Are you still running? All the best,Cheryl
Guest guest
Dear Lisa, I'd bet that this created a detox. The idea is to continue the process until all negative reactions stop. You want to keep your Total Tonic and Echinacea handy though as this will stop her from going into a "Healing Crisis". All the best, Doc Doc Shillington727-447-5282Doc - DocShillington Sunday, February 25, 2007 1:06 AM Distilled Water Question Hi Doc,I have a question for you. The past 2 days my daughters and I drankdistilled water. My daughter of 2 1/2 yrs had a horrible rash and I amconvinced it was from drinking the distilled water. I know it pullsinorganic metals out of the body, do you know what specific ones or all? This concerns me because the only thing I think it really comes from may beour water, at least to that degree. We have a purifier which is supposed topull out iron, but I'm wondering what it puts into the water if anything. Ihad our water tested they did the normal testing and the only thing that wasa little high was the iron. We have well water btw. I'm not sure what elsecould do this... Thanks for any help,Lisa
