Guest guest
One thing that confuses me is when people have an over reaction of the immune system like with Rheumatoid arthritis or allergic reactions, do we still want to boost their immune system? Traditionally doctors give those with RA something to " quiet " their immune system so it doesn't attack itself. Can someone clarify this for me? I would suggest it would be good to help " balance " the immune system. A hyper reactive or autoimmune problem could be moderated by reducing omega 6 fatty acid i.e. soy or corn oil and increasing omega 3 fatty acids. This is a pretty well accepted idea as even Shils textbook " Modern Nutrition " discusses this as I recall. I'd also try larger amounts of vitamin D3 than commonly used if I had an autoimmune disorder. Though I have say I am already taking such an amount 4000 IU/1000 mcgs of D3 to help prevent cancer and to handle calcium. Some suggest various flavonoids for allergies and other suggest one form of B-3 though the latter seems require very large doses such that it might be hard on the liver. Just my ideas so check what others say and do some of your own " research " . And research isn't reading something in the newspaper or even something in one medical journal review article.
