As I said, I nursed my daughter for 26 months, then I just dried up and she gave up (poor baby - she'd still nurse now if I had anything for her - it's her comfort, so now, she'll put her hand on my chest - so cute). Anyway, people were bugging me and looking at me weird when they realized I was still nursing her at 18 months, and were horrified when we were still going at 25 months. I'd get that 'when are you going to get your life back' crap. I hated that. It was a pleasure for me and a comfort for her. And look at her, she's so healthy. People would be horrified if they new that I nursed my three year old, and even more horrified because she is adopted and I only started a few months ago. I always got strange looks, too, when I mentioned that I was still nursing when my daughter was two years old. Now that she's 3.5 years, they just assume that she has stopped and don't even ask - LOL! My sister commented that she hoped that I was going to stop before my daughter started school, and I said in a serious voice " Oh, I'm sure she'll wean herself before she's 10! " She doesn't know whether I'm being serious or joking! Seriously, though, as I mentioned before...I believe in the benefits to child while extended breastfeeding. I see the difference in my daughter's health. She is currently weaning herself, so I don't think she'll be nursing much longer. Boo hoo! My baby's growing up!!
