Guest guest
It's been quite a while since I've posted here, but when thinking of this subject this was the best place that I've thought to go. This is a sensitive, and perhaps TMI subject, so if anyone is uncomfortable or doesn't want it discussed on the board, if anyone has some answers for me, please email me in private. I'm making gradual changes in my life towards a more natural and healthier lifestyle. One of those changes is getting off of my birth control. I believe the hormones in the one that I am taking are seriously affecting my health, and want to get off of it asap. I went to the gyno today and was fitted for a diaphragm. She was almost adamant about the fact that I choose something else, and did just about everything she could to get me to change my mind. I guess my question is this. Are there any women here who use one, how long have you been using it, and what has your success/or failure been with it? I appreciate any insight into the subject from those who know. Guest guest
Although I am now 50 years old, on my first gynological appointment before getting married in 1977, the doctor proceeded to tell me about birth control pills. I told him that did not want to use them. Once he knew I could not be persuaded, he said he was very glad for my decision. He told me that I will be aware of some of the things they will do, he will be aware of some of the things they will do, but there will be things they will do that neither of us will be aware. On that visit, I received a diaphragm - very easy. Quit using it the two times we wanted to have a child. Don't have anything to compare it to since it is all I ever used, but I can think of nothing negative.fyrespryte <fyrespryte wrote: It's been quite a while since I've posted here, but when thinking of this subject this was the best place that I've thought to go. Guest guest
you will probably get this answer a lot, and I appologize if someone has already sent it, as I have not finished reading all my email. Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler This method allows you to track when you are fertile and use protection or abstinance then to avoid pregnancy by using your body temps, cervical fluid, and cervix. You do it yourself. You are in charge. All forms of birth control pose risk for a woman. pills, patches, IUDs all of them. The risks are differant, and some are mild, and some are very severe. This is the only 100% natural way I have heard, and it is not to be confused with the rythem method which is basically only guesswork. There have been no failures. I am also very wary of all the hormones in the Pill, which is why I chose a diaphram. It takes a couple of tries to get used to putting it in, but once you get the hang of it, it is quite quick and easy. I like that it is just a mechanical barrier, with no adverse effects on my body due to hormones.
