I've been looking into this as well. Unfortunately, what I have learned is

that there has been more Hoodia sold in the US, than has actually been

imported --- meaning that not all products claiming to contain Hoodia, do.

Otherwise, I've heard great things, but am not willing to try and figure out

which product is the " real " one.

We carry hoodia at work. I haven’t looked into this in any depth, but I can

ask on Tuesday when I go back, and ask what brands we carry, and how

effective it is.

I use Dex L-10 made by NutraLab. It is in a very dark green bottle.CVS and Walgreen carries it. GNC may also carry it.Teddyberen wrote: Out of curiosity, what brand of Hoodia do you use? My sister is contemplating going on it.ThanksDiane M

Maureen Rogers (Herbalpedia.com) wrote an article for the upcoming issue of

The Essential Herbal about Hoodia. There has not been a huge amount of

research done as yet, but, to quote the article:

" A clinical trial conducted by a company called Phytopharm demonstrated that

repeat dose administration of large doses of Hoodia gordonii extract caused

a statistically significant decrease in daily calorie intake. By day 15 the

calorie intake had decreased by approximately 1000 kcal per day. The reason

seems to be an ingredient called P57. The license to develop and extract P57

was licensed to a bio-pharmaceutical company, Phytopharm, who in turn sold

the development and marketing rights to Pfizer Corporation. "

I've read that there has been more Hoodia sold in the US than has actually

been imported.

I've also tried the products of 2 different companies. Eh... maybe a slight

difference.

The story about the people going without food for days reminds me of similar

stories that were told regarding Guarana back in the 90's. That contained a

lot of caffeine. This has no stimulant whatsoever - at least that I could

discern.
