I received the following e-mail, may be one of you can answer the

questions:

==================================================================

Hi,

OK, please bare with me for a little while. I have an apricot tree

with a large (14 " -7 " ) what I would call a (hard) toad stool growing

on the lower trunk. I know this is a fungus that is probably eating

the inner xylem. Not good, but really not my Question. I want to

know if there is any possibility that a fungus growing in this way

might add toxin to the fruit? Is there any history of this? I am the

only person in my family who really gluttonizes on its fruit and

I've developed a rare Polyneuropathy over the past few years. I know

I am grasping at straws but is there anything in any literature or

old almanacs that the fruit growers of old knew and might help us

back yard farmers learn. And yes, how do I get rid of the fungus?

Thanks so much,

Craig Salvage

Spray with a strong baking soda/water solution every day and two weeks after it dies.

Don't know about neuro problems caused by fungus. People eat mushrooms and some are medicinal mushrooms. Perhaps someone else knows.
