A few years ago I was rushed to the hospital with blood pressure 275/128 and a heart rate of 108. I ended up being placed on Mycardis and Atenolol. I was eventually taken off Mycardis. I decided to get off Atenolol because while it was slowing down my heart rate it really wasn't helpling my blood pressure. While on Atenolol my blood pressure/heart rate are as follows:

09/08/05 11:30 am 172/101 56

11:36 am 144/99 52

3:00 pm 155/96 55

09/09/05 9:45 pm 146/91 61

09/10/05 8:55 am 150/100 55

4:15 pm 150/94 50

I didn't take the Atenolol yesterday or today. I've taken 576 mg of Hawthorn in the morning, 300 mgs of it and 400 mgs of Magnesium at supper time. Then 300 mgs of Hawthorn at bedtime.

09/11/05 9:54 am 164/102 58

10:44 am 142/92 66

3:04 pm 147/96 78

09/12/05 2:49 am 155/98 59

11:36 am 148/97 86

I've also been taking Omega 3s (2,140 mg EPA and 1, 500 mg DHA) daily since May this year. I also take 2,400 mgs of both garlic extract and Red Yeast Rice daily. 3,000 mg of Vitacmin C daily (divided by 1000 3 times daily), 200 mg CoQ10, 500 mg of no flush Niacin. Any suggestions I can do to lower both my blood pressure and heart rate?David (it means Beloved)There are no withholding taxes on the wages of sin.

If I were you, I would take the hawthorn as a tea and make it from the whole plant, twigs, leaves and berries. I would include Linden blossoms (Tilia) sometimes called lime blossoms and motherwort (Leonarus cardiaca), to the tea. Put 2 Tablespoons of each into boiling pure water, turn off heat and cover for at least 20 minutes. Drink 4 cups a day.

Bugleweed tincture works fast to bring down blood pressure.

Golden Seal is reputed to do the same. I have had people tell me that Bugleweed was doing a good job.

I would also eat at least 4 ounces of fish from the sea every day. Bananas supply potassium needed for good cardio health and apples are beneficial too. Include these foods in the diet and don't forget dark green leafy vegetables for folic acid. Include these foods every day.

Some say that dairy contributes to high blood pressure so you might want to drop those foods for awhile and see if it makes a difference.

If you want to eliminate the meds, you will need a naturophic Doctor to help wean you off them. Do not just quit all of a sudden.

Peace, Thyme

  • 2 weeks later...

Take 8 to 12 cloves of Garlic a day.

Cut 'em in half lengthwise, with the grain, dip 'em in olive oil and down the hatchet like a pill. You can take them all at one time or split 'em up througout the day.

Garlic is the permanent handling for HBP and for cleaning out clogged arteries. It kills off the nanobacteria responsible for creating the plaque on the walls of veins and arteries, and as a natural chelator, bonds with existing proteins and helps to remove that plaque.

Works great. Tastes great.

If I could have only one "Non emergency" herb on the planet, it would be Garlic.

I've been taking 1,130 mg Hawthorn in the morning and at bed time, and 300 mgs of it at dinner time. A few samples of my blood pressure:

9/17/05 1:20 pm 128/79 heart rate: 66

9/18/05 3:21 pm 131/78 heart rate: 77

9/19/05 3:44 am 138//85 heart rate: 55

9/20/05 12:50 am 122/70 heart rate: 66

9/21/05 4:40 pm 130/76 heart rate: 77

Much better, and I haven't had an Atenolol since the 9/16 evening time."Dr. Ian Shillington" <DocShillington wrote:

Greetings,

Do you have a time period for using this "cure" as far as cleaning arteries?

3 to 12 weeks depending on the individual.

Never known it to take longer.

Doc

PS. The only thing that can be done wrong is not to take enough Garlic and to continue a hedonistic lifestyle.

Thanks Doc,

Also, how would you compare Omega 3s with the Garlic regimen?

Also, would you give the same time period for cleaning out the plaque from the artaries for Omega 3s as the Garlic Regimen? I'm taking 4,000 mg of Omega 3s now, and it reduced my total cholesterol from 315 to 172.

I have several friends monitoring the results I'm having with natural means hoping that they can get off presecription meds too. "Dr. Ian Shillington" <DocShillington wrote:
