Guest guest
I am 52, experiencing menopause and can't seem to lose weight. I don't eat bad food (well, on our Saturday night date night I eat ice cream with my husband!) but other than that I eat organic veges, fruits, meat and poultry. I eat very little red meat though. I do not exercise much as most of my day and night is sitting. Any suggestions? I also get heartburn and my gallbladder hurts. Blah! Guest guest
If you are on synthetic hormones, switch to black cohosh, sarsaparilla and evening primrose oil. Synthetic hormones cause weight gain in the form of water retention. For weight loss take bladderwrack caps, dandelion root and dandelion leaves (can be combined), chromium picolinate at 200 mcg. per day, CoQ10, and Kola nut and Vitamin B6. This will provide iodine for the thyroid _ bladderwrack is a form of kelp. Dandelion root to clear the liver so it can balance hormones, Dandelion leaf will clear the urinary tract and also excess water. Chromium picolinate will balance the blood sugar and tone the muscles. CoQ10 will keep the heart healthy, menopause often brings on heart problems. Kola Nut will give energy to get you moving. B-6 slims the waist. You need to have a regular exercise program even if it is only walking a mile a day, or riding a bike a mile a day. A mile is not as far as you would think. If it tires you then start out with as far as you can walk and build on every day. Weight loss = calories burned against calories consumed. This is not a miracle weight loss program but slowly and surely, you will lose weight. Refrain from weighing yourself, Once a month is enough. At first you will weigh the same but you will notice your clothes getting looser. For the gall bladder take wild yam and fennel. this will flush it out and start the digestive bile flowing to digest food properly. Synthetic hormones also cause gall bladder problems. For heart burn drink Chamomile tea combined with peppermint tea and marshmallow herb (Althea). That should help. Eat very bland foods for a while. Drink lots of pure water but only drink liquids after meals, not while you are eating. Eat boiled eggs, they burn calories during digestion. I hope this information helps. I am over the weight gain and menopause years now but that is what I did. Peace, Thyme

Guest guest
I want to share something with you that I have learned. Eleven months ago, I was 294 pounds. I had lost my soul-mate, my lover of 30 years of marriage to a Heart Attack. And I was basically eating for the support. And now I am at 178 pounds. This is the how, the why and the what on me losing that much weight. I am still over weight but I am getting there.. I had gone to the doctor and she told me that I was a border line diabetic/I was waiting for a heart attack to happen, I had stomach problems, I had so many problems. And if I kept eating the way I did that I would not see any of my children grow up. And at first I thought what a #$@ she is to tell me that! But that kind of got to me. You see I am the mother of 11 beautiful children. And yes, I had gotten big because of having that many kids, but I was not that big when I delivered my last of twins I weighed 143 pounds. I was needing support because I missed my spouse. So I ate everything, ice cream, chips, cookies, whatever. I went home and I threw away everything that had sugar in it. I gave away everything in my freezer that contained meat in it. I found a gym that was opened 24 hours and started going to it, because it had cheap or almost free daycare, for the children that were to young to stay by themselves. I threw away all the soft drinks, any processed food. I had yard sales and got rid of cookbooks that had recipes for junk basically. I bought a bike, at a yard-sale and started riding it, now at first I could hardly even go just outside my drive away, but I did this everyday for 30 minutes. Each day I was able to go farther. My diet consists of veggies, and some fruits. I am never tired anymore like I was before. I am able to play basketball with my children now, and enjoy them. I think its a matter of Choice.. and You have to decide that You want to do it. The whole key is.. the WANT. Good luck! Guest guest
Sherri.. As a 39 year old mother of 10, I found your post quite inspirational!!! ;-0 My highest weight ever was 209 and I felt like a pork sausage....ack! HAving been 5'9" and 129 pounds, it really made me feel like a tub o' lard. The tall, thin blonde looked like a large greying middle aged woman (double ack!) No energy, no self confidence (which I had oozed big time..perhaps too much..in my younger years). I have been working hard to get back down and have noticed my hair is actually getting back to it's blonde color????? Could this be??????????? The grey is DE-creasing??????? I am now continuing to lose weight (although I'm still over what I wish to be, I'm not obese at this point) to be HEALTHY so I can be around for my husband and family and hopefully lots of grandchildren. No vanity...I swear (okay..maybe I **do** want to look good...but, isn't that normal? LOL). Peace, Love and Health.. Wendy C.
Guest guest
Maybe cut the ice cream completely? Maybe walk, like maybe walk in the mornings with a friend, or if your life is so busy, walk after work? I am also going through menopause, I really don't know what to tell you. Cut the red meat, Cut the sugar, Cut the colas, I found that I had a lot of stomach problems whenever I ate milk products. This is a wonderful group because everyone is here to help everyone. Good luck to you. I found that walking seemed to be the best, but I also joined a gym and daily exercise helped me a lot.vickiekirkland <vickiekirkland wrote: I am 52, experiencing menopause and can't seem to lose weight.
