Guest guest
Hi - I just joined recently. I have been having lots of problems with my stomach. I am a stay at home mom of 2 little kids, which is a struggle financially. I am going to College full time right now also. Therefore, one of the things I have had to do without right now is health insurance for me. Therefore, I have decided to look into natural remedies that might help me. The problem I am having is : lots of pain and cramping in my stomach ... I never have any kind of bowel movement that isn't accompanied by pain.. usually pain that is so intense that it brings chills and moans and strange noises from my stomach. The need to use the bathroom comes on suddenly and with urgent need. Frequent diarrhea, but sometimes not. It seems to worse in the early mornings. It makes life miserable. Can anyone offer in suggestions that might be helpful and hopefully not too expensive. Thanks in advance for your help, Shanda
Guest guest
I'm new here too. I have ulcers bad. Anyway, it sounds like you have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. If this is what you have try: Probiotic--at least 4 billion active organisms twice a day about 30 minutes after a meal. Digestive Enzymes--full spectrum enzyme product, take 2 capsules with each meal Peppermint Oil between meals helps with cramps and gas. Nux Vomica is good too.ShanLuvED wrote: Hi - I just joined recently. I have been having lots of problems with my stomach. I am a stay at home mom of 2 little kids, which is a struggle financially. Guest guest
For ShanLuv: It sounds like stress is causing you a lot of stomach problems. I can suggest some low cost remedies. chamomile tea will help with the problems you have, it will relax you. If you add peppermint to the tea, it will help too, add fennel and it is even better. If you can only afford one herbal tincture, then I would get Fennel/wild yam which is sold under the Gaia brand in most herbal stores or health food stores. Call ahead to make sure they have it to save gas. If not you can probably find their website. Also get an oz. of marshmallow (Althea) at the herb store and add 1 tsp to your tea and make 1 quart of tea at a time. This herb will coat your stomach and intestines and relieve the pain. Drink 1 cup of tea 3 to 4 times a day and best before a meal. You must eat very bland foods. Get yogurt that has live acidophilus, plain is best. Eat cooked oatmeal, cooked cream of rice. Zweibach toast, (in the baby food section) Drink pure water, at least 4 glasses of 8 oz. per day. Of course you must cut out coffee and meat and citrus for awhile. Pure apple juice and apples are good too. One tablespoon of pectin to a glass of water once a day will help flush out impurities. Get pectin in canning section of the super market. If you must have milk, then get goats milk, it is very easy to digest and it is also full of nutrients. I get mine from Trader Joe's because they have the best tasting. One thing that has helped me is to keep a food diary. Enter what has been eaten and at what time. You can pinpoint suspect foods this way. It may just be a reaction to something that you eat. I do hope that you will find a solution. I was once down to eating only dry toast and weak tea to heal my stomach. Since then I have found the herbs that help if I have a reoccurrence of the problem. I do not have any ties to Gaia or to Trader Joe's, I just recommend them. Peace, Thyme
Guest guest
Hello, I guess my two cents for this issue would be: Hops (Humulus lupulus) - for stress (not beer) B complex - adrenal support (stress) American Ginseng (panax quinquefolius, not panax ginseng) - great for stress and body normalizing. Ginger (Zangiber officinale) - Fresh, or I think there is a product called Ginger Wonder or something like that. I've used that before, I'm not affiliated with that product. Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza globra) - reduces pain from ulcers <don't use if you have high blood pressure> Most of this is relatively inexpensive stuff. The B-complex and ginger can be gotten at the grocery store. Hope it helps. Blessings, Adam
