Janine... The conifer oils each smell like the needles of the tree it is distilled from... ie, pinus sylvestris will smell like a scotch pine... Fir Balsam smells like the Christmas Tree I grew up with... Black Spruce (my favorite of the conifers smells like ... black spruce...etc... you really need to get samples if you don't know the scents of the different ones...because our language really isn't designed to let us accurately describe aromas.
