Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a coyote problem. There is one (or a few) who live down in the woods beyond my house, and has already taken out four chickens. Yesterday, it snuck up and made off with one of my guineas in broad daylight!! And today, one of the workmen saw it slinking into the woods around 11:30 AM. Sans chicken lunch, thank goodness. My DH would be mortified that anyone knows of this, but I've been making him eat a steak then go pee around the coop. I read somewhere that male carnivore urine (yes, I know we are really omnivores, but I don't have any large, unaltered cat urine around) scares them off, but I don't think it's working.... Does anyone know of ANYTHING to deter or repel them? I HATE to think of shooting them - it's not their fault, but I DON'T want to lose any more of my feathered friends. If anyone has any experience with this, please advise. Old farm lore, wives-tales - ANYTHING, I'm desperate to save my chickies!!!! Guest guest
That does not work Jen. Cat marking does not deter them. They will eat cats if they can catch it (Small dogs too). If you can light a few fire crackers off, it will help some. Also if you have loud big dogs. not much else will deter them. If you are having problems with them, then their usual food supply is low. The reason I know is that we have a half coyote and one of the cats is draped over her right now sleeping. JM2C Linda primum non nocere - Hi everyone, I have a coyote problem.
