Guest guest
I have been reading the post of this subject and just can't refrain to pipe in. How to determine what EOs are great and those who are not, well for me it have realy been a trial and error kind of thing. Here in Sweden there are I think 2-3 main suppliers of quality EOs and I must say that the quality between them scentwise (I'm not qualified to tell the AT value of the oils) differs hugely. That I didn't know in the beginning, just ordered from the biggest supplier of homemade toiletries ingrediences and thought that the way they smelled was the right way. Hmmm, then I got online and started to find sources outside Sweden, mostly within the EU - England and Germany. But my very first forreign purchase was from a American company called Gingham and Spice I think.... found the source in Nancy Booths making your own perfumes I think.... I wount slur any supplier here, but I found out later that there are suppliers with better prices and services ;-) I got some stuff from Amphora and Butterbur & Sage in England, some from Germany - some nice some not... And then thanks to Margaret in Oregon I could start to sample the US suppliers and there is a huge difference in both the quality and the way they conducts business. I now I have quite a selection (most of them in small amounts LOL) from quite a few suppliers and have a friend who recently started to get intersted in AT. She wouldn't listen to my advice at first and just got out and bought some OTC oils in healthshops and so. When we sat down with all my chests of EOs and compared them, she got very dissapointed with some of the stuff she got - and frankly - they smell like ..... So now it's time for what you all be waiting for, my fav list of suppliers and won't you believe it - they are all in the US :-) I do not rank them, cuse they are all so very good in different ways: Butch of AVT (of course LOL) Marge at Natures Gift Rosanne at Sunrose Aromatics Dr P at EoU So - even if there are some sources of EOs here that got good stuff, their range and prices can't compare to the US ones in my findings. When ever I need larger amount or some real special stuff, I will continue import my goodies from the US of A :-D Now I go out in the rain with Fiona - a type of wheather that RRs are NOT very fond of lol. Guest guest
Hey Ylva and everyone! OK, I should have read farther down my list before posting...oops! (I have about 30 to catch up on!) Anyway, now that the opinions are out, I'll personally agree with Ylva on those suppliers as well (although I do know there are other great ones out there...just do your homework and sample, sample, sample). Marge at Nature's Gift has also been extremely helpful to me over the years and she does have some extremely great oils and blends as testimonies reveal on her site. So, that said, if Butch doesn't have exactly what I need (and chances are he does) I turn to Marge. Now, if you want to get into the chemistry of AT ( & personally, I think you need to when it comes to eo's), Dr. Rob Pappas (Dr. P) really knows his stuff! To get yourself an education in the science of Aromatherapy, those are 3 great places to start...not to mention, Martin Watt's research and info are supreme especially when it comes to safety issues! These are simply my opinions as I have formed over 5 years of research into this treatment modality. AT was the only thing that cured my son and I from chronic sinus infections, when conventional meds no longer worked. So, yeah, I've done my homework where this is concerned. Have I had " formal training " ? No, although I am looking into it as we speak, due to some HUGE misinformation on EOs in my state, but I have trusted the people who have done the research to back up what they say to guide me in my own research to help my family. (I REALLY hope that made sense!) >) Again, these are simply my humble opinions for whatever it is worth! I hope everyone has a blessed day! Always in faith, Kati in NC
