Guest guest
Hey Shelley, > > The so-called human rights advocates criticize American law > > enforcement agencies for " profiling " Moslems within certain age > > groups .. but its not Irishmen or Kenyans or Mexicans or little old > > ladies who are the prime terrorists of the world now. > > Thank you for that! Wackum. ;-p > You are right about profiling. El Al has been doing the so called > dirty deed for years and years and in the 70s (I THINK!) when all > those airliners were high jacked, El Al came out smelling like a rose. Yep .. and getting into or outta their airports is slower than getting outta a Russian airport. Same with Royal Jordanian .. I started riding both airlines in the early 80s and they were very much into profiling and more carefully scrutinizing those they selected .. twas good. > I saw an interview with one of El Al's big wigs and it was > fascinating. Plus, they have sky marshals. Sky Marshals .. so does the USA. Many of my retired US Army MP friends are now Sky Marshals .. that was the job of active duty MPs for a lotta years. I would expect that anytime we're on an international flight we will have a couple on there .. that includes the European airlines. Not sure about American domestic flights. > And let me tell you something else. Law enforcement does it. Of course .. always has and always will .. but the dudes who think its a violation of human rights or harassment of certain races, age groups, etc., have their heads up their butts. > They see certain characters in certain places and they are going to > stop them, why? They've profiled them. And...they have to. Correct .. race, age, etc., is still required on police reports. We'd be dumb to go out looking for needles in haystacks. > It's not racial or discriminatory or what ever you want to call it, > it's smart and it's necessary...and another thing...it's human nature. Right you are on both counts. We've all read studies that show women and men who are within certain age, weight groups and those that are considered to be pretty/handsome get the best jobs and the most money. That's profiling at the hiring point by personnel managers .. but you would have a hard time proving it. In fact, in many cases the decision of the interviewer is based on subconscious considerations. > Why would we think that on a larger scale, people in law enforcement > wouldn't be doing the same thing most (all) of us do on a daily basis. They have and will continue to do so .. difference is that rights-groups see law enforcement as a good target for their criticism .. whereas you and I would tell them to go to Helena, Montana .. the police brass must deal with complaints in a manner that satisfies politicians. > Who have we, in our daily lives, summed up lately? I do it every time I go to the pub. ;-p > That's all it is...summing someone up...or summing a group of > someone's...up. Righto. And I'm glad the cops do it. Its in the best interests of public safety. > Shelley Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
