Guest guest
>Okay, Okay,I didn't add any more rose Oh good the paramedics can now go home. >and I now have a boring vaguely smelly >(VERY vaguely) soy/beeswax candle. Tain't nothing like paraffin. >sigh< No it is not like paraffin. You can not do all the fancy pretty sculptured candles you can do with paraffin. You can't make soy only floaters. You can't do solid soy tapers. >You can't do chunks with it, You can do chunks, Cut your chunks out of votive blend soy, fill the container positioning chunks close to the container wall first. They pour container soy wax of a different color into the container. > can't use essential oils with it, Oh you can use eo's I do and many folks like them, you will have a stronger cold throw with eo's and a stronger hot throw with fo's. You will not fill the room with scent with eo's. It is a more personal scent. so if you have 6 people in a room each person could be burning a votive they like and not interfere with someone else scent. >unless you use >a LOT. Well there are many eo's that you can use and be cost effective tho at 10.00 a gram rose would not be my choice, but then you live in Ca where the street are paved with gold, ;-) > So what's it good for? Hope you are not sorry you asked. But you did ask... There is a case action lawsuit in Ca that names 900 paraffin candle makers. Bottom line, they direct consumers to light and burn petro carbon producing candles in a their home environment. The suit asks for damages and should it be success paraffin candles would not longer be sold in the state. The suit sights carcinogenic output of petro carbons and goes on and on. All-natural soy wax which produces no petro-carbon soot. Soy Wax Candles provide the same beautiful illumination and scents of traditional candles without the high health risks of paraffin wax candles. Soy wax is clean, safe and non-toxic. Soy wax is water soluble and is thus easy to remove with soap and water. Soy Wax Candles will provide you with a healthy alternative to traditional paraffin wax candles and burn up to 2 times longer. Made from soybeans grown right in America's Heartland, pure vegetable soy wax creates economic growth for the farmers of America. Soy candles burn cleaner, smoother, and longer. >Just for people who insist on nat-rul? I think there is more to it. You notice many of the large paraffin candle companies have now introduced a soy line. >If this is it, I'm not sure doing soy is worth me time. Too many people like >pretty, nice smelling candles... Yes and many once they know the pro and cons will still choose sculptured paraffin, but many more each month are choosing soy, beeswax, and bayberry. >Off to sulk for a while. Oh don't sulk, you can still have eo candles, but play with some less expensive oil than rose otto in wax. Try rose geranium, rosewood, rosemary, the list goes on. Or pour soy tarts unscented, pour soy tea lights for you tart burner and add a few drops to the melt pool in the tart burner. Oh I am most forgot if you have too many stashes of rose otto I know a few people who will gladly snort them up. Guest guest
Annnnd, there was one study in Texas I think it was, a man burned I can't remember how many votives, 1 in a room to see how much soot was made. Seems there was $220,000 damages in a house in which a realtor burned a regular parrafin candle, one or two votives I *think* it was, and the soot from the candles did that much damage to the walls and drapes. So someone tried it in an empty house and couldn't even burn them for 24 hours as the soot on the walls was so much. this was one report that I found about 3 years ago? online. Ya figure, if the soot from these candles does this to walls, what is it doing to your lungs? look what I found one website says: Candles made from any kind of wax burn longer and better if refrigerated for several hours before use. I was looking up bayberry candles. They used to be super expensive, but I guess folks are planting more trees.
