No doubt. I'm sure it's hard to accept - would be for me, but that's where officers should step up and strive to be exemplary leaders. Someone in the chain is not holding up his (or her) end of things if this is getting this much publicity. JenB

Guest guest
Hi y'all, There are two dudes .. Scott Redmond & Bob (Gunny) Newman .. talk show hosts at Denver's 630 KHOW, but heard coast-to-coast. Their website is at URL http://www.khow.com/hosts/redmond_newman.html who recently put out a bunch of ridiculous information on how military authorities should mollycoddle a coward in combat (in the particular case, it was a Non-Commissioned Officer) because its very natural for soldiers to fear death. I wrote them a zinger in opposition and they have placed me on their BlackList .. as follows: ;-p > <scottredmond: > 207.230.136.65 does not like recipient. > Remote host said: 553 sorry, your envelope sender is in my badmailfrom > list (#5.7.1)Giving up on 207.230.136.65. Not that I expect many people on this list to care one way or the other but I just want to strike back at them even if its with a wet noodle cause they won't let me get into their forum. ;-p This sorta censorship smacks of something I read in Defense Watch today about organizations and groups who tolerate everything but dissent against their own ideals and tolerate everyone as long as they are faithfully indoctrinated to their beliefs .. or the beliefs of their constituents. Information becomes PURE Propaganda when Censorship is involved. In a nation that supposedly supports freedom of speech such attitudes turn my stomach. Even though I strongly dislike military officers who keep a UCMJ on one corner of their desk and the Bible on the other, I have no problem with them practicing their religion when not in the performance of their official duties. I have known but two such officers in my entire time in the service and I think they were both miserable failures. But the House Democratic Caucus has seen fit to censure Lieutenant General Jerry Boykin for his remarks concerning his personal religious beliefs (a testimonial to his Christian faith) at a prayer breakfast. Specifically, this lack of tolerance (called House Resolution 419) was kicked off by Democrats from Texas, Ohio, Michigan and (of course) California, and sixteen other Democratic lawmakers .. according to the latest count by the Arab American Institute. They were high incensed by remarks made by LTG Boykin .. such as: + Islamic extremists hate the United States because we are a Christian nation. + The enemy that has come against our nation is a spiritual enemy named Satan. I don't agree with his second comment, but as one who has spent more than a third of his entire life and half of his adult life in Moslem (and some Islamic) countries .. I KNOW that the first statement is correct. And keep in mind that he is talking about Islamic extremists, not the average, normal true follower of Islam, who doesn't fly planes into buildings or blow themselves up to kill innocent civilians. General Boykin has refused to apologize or retract his statements as he says it would be a compromise of his personal religious stance. If he had made such remarks in line with his official duties, I would support forcing to retire from the service .. but since it was not under such circumstances, I salute him and I support his rights under and in accordance with the First Amendment. One of the closing lines of the House Resolution .. " Condemns bigotry and intolerance against any religious group, including people of the Islamic faith. " Not bad in fact ... EXCEPT ... for the congressional intolerance shown to the group to which General Boykin was addressing his remarks. ;-p In a way I am glad that these lefties decided to take a stance that they saw as being in support of their Arab American constituents .. which in truth was in support of an Arab American organization .. not the average Arab American living in the USA, because I think these opportunists are going to learn (in the next election) that Jewish and Christian voters in their neighborhood far outweigh that number they are stroking. Just thought I'd ventilate a bit. ;-p Butch Tolerance for all .. except those in uniform.
