Oh! Poor Possum! I like possums, sweet little things, okay, not always

little, but sweet anyway.

I can tell you one thing that's uglier than an upset possum and that's ME

when I get upset. Now THAT's ugly! ROFLMAO!

Cheers!

Worth reading that news item, and the one about the roo industry needing

help. Solid data.

About possums - the Kiwi ones are the descendants of some taken over there

by an Aussie (or maybe a Brit - we had a few of those here in the early

days). Now, possums in NZ are a real pest. Kiwis are fixing that by

harvesting, and selling possum fur hats back here in Aus! And very warm they

are, too.

Dead possums under a house trailer would be ripe, but I can still remember

the `scent' of a dead armadillo under a trailer when I worked for a while in

East Texas - and that was in the late 1970's !

ROFL...yeah, them dead animals under where you live, yuck. This was was in

the middle of summer. Took a while to figure out where that smell was coming

from. And all that time I blamed Steve for not putting his socks in the

washer! lololol

Or a dead packrat smack dab under the bed we were taking a nap on. That was

a HORRID smell. Like ammonia or propane/ammonia.gosh, that was awful.

My Dad was trying to kill the chipmunks that get in his cabin northern

california. they get in to everything, flour, blankets and make nests out of

them and kleenex, rice. everything. AND they carry bubonic plague. Not a lot

of ways to keep them out of the cabin. Sets up on the top of a mtn, in the

middle of nowhere. no phone, no t.v., no cable, an outhouse for going potty,

a shower hooked up to a water heater and propane tank....ahhh, idyllic

life...but I digress.

The packrat, which is a nasty animal anyway, got the poison. Which is a GOOD

thing, but to die right underneath the bed and not leave a NOTE???? lol

Warm regards,

Janine Phariss

Hi Shelley,

Lots of it exported now. http://www.e-xoticmeat.com/news_02.html

Reminds me of a short I saw on TV whilst visiting the USA this last

trip. Seems the Islamic Fundamentalist Propaganda Machine has been

working overtime to convince their sheep that the USA eats human babies

and uses Gerber's and such as evidence of this .. showing the jar and

the photos of the little rug rat on the label. ;-p

I reckon they left dawg food cans out of the propaganda campaign cause

it would have done nothing but increase sales in some eastern countries.

> but doggies are the topic). Armadillos are abundundant, though.

Cept'in in Texas .. in Texas they're considered toys .. like the possum

is in most Suthran states. Most Yankees visiting the South begin to

believe possums are born dead on the side of the road.

When I was a kid possums were the favored toys of us younguns .. that

was afore creation of the Frisbee.

Yep .. those of you mature enough to remember Al Cap's " Lil Abner "

series will remember that outside Dogpatch wuz a place called " Schmoo

Valley " . Schmoos existed to please people .. they loved to get et and

such. Al Cap most likely created them sweet little critters after

seeing how possums and armadillos acted.

Possums too .. they just ugly you to death. Nothing uglier than a upset

possum. Took a lot of imagination to turn'em into that cute little Pogo

critter.

> Please know one tell me THEY are low in cholesterol. Shelley

Don't know much about armadillos as they hadn't taken up residence in

the Southeast USA in my time .. if they're anything like possums I'd

spect mebbe they're pretty high in cholesterol. Possums got so much fat

we gotta pit barbeque'em fer 12 hours or so afore we can eat'em.

Eat more Possum! ;-p

Y'all keep smiling .. Butch

PS: History goes that the second most favored food of Mountain Men

(trappers and such) and many Western Indian Tribes was buffler meat.

Most favored was painter (mountain lion).
