Guest guest
Hi y'all, This is NOT an advertisement .. and it can't wait till Thursday. It's a request for interested people who contacted me before to do so again. As I explained in a post sent to this list the night before I left the USA .. we had a crash and the Temp Files were all lost. In those files were requests I had from folks on Rose Otto .. I had stored them there because I was using my Server's Post Office at the time and it was restricted to 10 MB of storage .. which could be filled up in a week. The intent was to have my folks in Maryland forward them to me here when I was in a position to download from my Mail Box .. but that's history. I told folks back then that the situation looked grim as there was no pure and quality Rose Otto left in Turkey .. and from what I was told yesterday .. by a fellow who sells Bulgarian .. not in Bulgaria either. On the Monday (two days ago) after returning to Turkey it was again confirmed that ALL the 2003 stock had been sold prior to distillation. About an hour ago I got a call from my distiller saying that one of the European perfumeries that had made an order was having difficulties and couldn't pay for their order .. and it is now available. Approximately 8 kilos are left .. but they won't be left long. I have no intentions of offering Rose Otto wholesale for the rest of the year because the investment would be far too much .. its just not wise to sit on that much money .. even if one has it to spend. ;-p IF .. you were one of those who wrote me and asked for Bulk Pricing on Turkish Rose Otto .. please write me again NOW and I will tell you the prices. There will be no 25 gram sizes offered .. the smallest will be 50 grams. I intend to make a purchase NOW for my Appalachian Valley Natural Products .. but nothing like I have done in the past. I say NOW because I am not sure how much longer this batch will be available. I've been in this business since 1995 .. I know Rose Otto .. I visit the fields and stills each year during harvest and distillation .. and I know what it costs to produce it. More importantly, I know what the cost was during the 2003 harvest/distillation. Be aware that there are some folks in the USA who are now selling bulk so-called Turkish and Bulgarian Rose Otto at near last year's prices. Those prices are FAR LESS than distillers had to pay for the 2003 Rose Blossoms to produce it. That is not even counting the commercial energy required or the labor costs .. or the fact that the distillers must maintain stills and other infrastructure worth millions of dollars so they can use them for but 6-7 weeks a year .. those stills (Turkish and Bulgarian) are NOT used for any other purposes. Consider all the above .. and I have not even touched on the fact that the distillers must make a profit .. and then tell me how in the HELL some people can be selling a product for FAR LESS than the cost of the raw materials required to produce it. They are either pulling a fast one or they are shooting for sainthood! If they claim to be offering 2002 Rose Otto .. which was considerably less costly .. they are LIARS!! Why? Because there was no bulk Rose Otto available from either Turkey or Bulgaria PRIOR TO the 2003 harvest and distillation .. that is the reason for the panic in the European perfumery industry that caused them to buy like mad this year. And .. if they did have a 2002 Rose Otto (which technically, will be superior to the 2002 because it does mellow with age) they'd have to be idiots to offer it for less than the replacement cost .. huh? IF someone wants to be suckered into buying such oils .. that is, if price is more important than purity and quality, I would recommend they instead purchase the cheaper, inferior Russian or Chinese Rose Oils, or the so-called Rosa demine from India (which, by the way, my best Indian contacts say they have NEVER heard of .. because odds are that is what they are going to get anyway! Another (BAD) option is to buy a small amount of legitimate Turkish or Bulgarian Rose Otto and mix a lot of Phenyl ethyl alcohol (PET) in it .. that is a common adulterant in the trade .. back a couple of years ago I tested one from the Balkans (not Bulgarian) that had almost SEVENTY PERCENT PET. Adulteration with PET could possibly be a reason some folks can sell their Rose Otto for FAR LESS than the cost of production. Y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: If you would like to take a trip through the Rose Fields and Stills of Turkey, go to the following URLs ...
