OH MY, Michele, this recipe or variations thereof, have been passed around and around for years! I believe the original came from one of the housecleaning books, Clean House Clean Planet, but I have had my recipe AND several others on my website for over 4 years. Many of us exchange housekeeping tips and recipes all the time, mixing them up and improving and they tend to always return to about the same original formula, with a little tweeking here and there. I have almost the same recipe for cleaning kitchen counter sinks, a little different for cutting boards, etc. with a variation on the EOs ... mix and match as you please ... I've been cleaning with non-chemical / natural recipes for many years (probly since you were in diapers <G>) and have sent the recipes out every so often to several lists and customers who ask for suggestions, but especially when someone asks for one which happened most recently. Peace to you too. Simone
Guest guest
-OK...LOL!! My Bad!! When I read it ...I was like didn't I just read this on another list?? So it was just a OLD recipe that is a standard I guess? My humble apologies to you!! I try to be different than everyone else with my products in some way. I really hate those sites that are nothing but copy-cats. I just did a show and have been really creative the last few weeks and it is so important to me to have my OWN recipes. How much is Research and Development worth per hour...anyone know..LOL!!!? Chris..I'm glad you are getting settled in and will be situated for the Holidays. Make it simple this year. It is sooo hard with wee ones.... Has anyone else done any shows lately? How was it and what type of crowd did you get? What was your best seller? Mine was the soaps, butters, and solid herbal perfumes. I got a few requests for lip balm. I would love to hear...... ~Peace~ Michele Seretis http://www.thesoapgardenboutique.com -- In , " Simone ~Flutterbye Aromatics~ " <skarsman@c...> wrote: > , " Michele Seretis " > <mseretis> wrote: > > OK...Call me crazy but this was just forwarded to me through > another > > list. > ========= > > > LOL! Guest guest
Hi Michelle - good to see you again and glad to hear you did so well at the show :-D I do agree to what you write about beeing unique - I read up a lot about ingrediences and stuff, read other peoples formulations and then try to create something of my own. I would never ever copycat someone elses recipes, but instead get inspired by them. Right now I'm doing my first business plan (sounds grand hugh, LOL!!), that is trying to descide what products to bring to the public (that is, trying to figure out what products people would be interested in to buy) and what scents to give them. How to set up my stand, decorate it, items to order etc. Trying to come up with some extra ordinary packaging and label ideas, what to write in a broshure (jeezz, that's a tough one - I'm not much of a copy writer, taht's for sure. Everything sound soo meek and plain.) Fragrante Blessings, Ylva
Guest guest
Hey Michele, I understand and agree with what you're saying. I, too, get bored to death seeing the same products everywhere you turn. But speaking of " household cleaners " , now that is NOT something I sell on my site, nor something I spend any time laboring over for variety. A good recipe for cleaning is a good recipe for cleaning, LOL, and that's about it. I do, however, spend ages on the recipes for my products. Sometimes to the ridiculous point. I just spent about a year sourcing the ingredients for one of my new products, testing, price comparison, testing again, and all that. And no, there's no compensation for the R & D end of it, is there. But for me that's the fun part of this business and the part that makes it the job I love. I don't do any shows, I stay busier than I can usually comfortably handle with my website, but I do love hearing about the shows you all do. I keep a long list of new products that I'm working on and planning to add to my website inventory, if I just had a clone, LOL! ~Simone~ email: skarsman Certified Holistic Aromatherapist, Flutterbye Aromatics Pure GC tested essential oils, pure hydrosols, aromatherapy products & accessories, herbal ointments, skin care, handmade soap, pet care, information and more!
