Guest guest
I am rather new to the group and to using eo's and fo's. Someone's post mentioned PEG for emulsifying oils into water. I've been trying to come up with a way to make a fragrance oil based linen spray that will come out clear instead of cloudy. I have been using PS20 as an emulsifier and that works fine when I use eo's, but fo's are cloudy. I know it's because they are synthetic... Anyway, if someone knows the answer to the PEG or how to make a clear spray using fragrance oils I would be very grateful! Thanks! Guest guest
Heather, I was the PEG poster. I find that usually (if not always) the PEG with EO's in water is cloudy too. Someone on some list solved it by not getting clear containers. Otherwise, I don't know. Guest guest
> Someone's post mentioned PEG for emulsifying oils > into water. > if someone knows the answer to the PEG PEG is an ester of a vegetable oil. These esters are water soluble, and have qualities which allow them to be used as a co-emulsifier and solubilizer. The ingredient label on a product containing them should say PEG - # (Oil) ... i.e. PEG - 7 (Olivate) for Olive Oil PEG Esters. This is the extent of my knowledge of these. > I've been trying to come up with a way to make a > fragrance oil based linen spray that will come out clear > how to make a clear spray using fragrance oils This is not an infrequent question on the lists I'm a member of. Unfortunately, I've never seen anyone give a method that will consistently produce clear sprays no matter if you're using EO or FO, or from whom the EO or FO came, or exactly which fragrance it is. It seems that some cloud and some don't, no matter if you use one of the Polysorbates, or grain alcohol. The only thing I can suggest is to buy a bottle of clear linen spray, and go through the ingredient list. Then start researching information to decipher the ingredients, to see if you can obtain them, and figure out how much of each to use.
