Guest guest
Hi Sandra, > I asked a friend to get me some oregano oil for I haven`t been feeling well and > thought it would help well they came back with some oregano oil in little gel caps > so I thought I would take them till I could order some from Butch, any way this is > tues thurs I have broke out in a rash or hives [i itch sooooooo bad] this is the > only thing I can think of I did different do you think the capsules are what did > it?? for the life of me I can not think of anything else. > Thanks for any feed back on this I want to find out what it is so it doesn`t happen > again > Sandra I've never heard of anyone having a negative reaction to any of the TRUE Origanums .. that is, Oroganum vulgare, Origanum onites, Origanum dubium or Origanum marjorana .. but I suppose it is impossible. But breaking out in a rash or something similar to hives .. that is even more of a surprise to me. First .. it would be interesting to know WHICH Origanum they gave you .. and if it was a TRUE Origanum. There are many out and about that are not .. some folks sell the so-called Spanish, Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican " Oregano " which is NOT an Origanum .. its merely a plant oil high in carvacrol. Its Lippia gravelons. Secondly .. though some folks have said they take Origanum in capsules I would NEVER consider that. I do not believe that a capsule exists that would not be melted in a short time with a true Origanum. Also .. keep in mind that one does not have to ingest Origanum to gain therapeutic value .. merely sniffing it is sufficient. The whole idea behind Aromatherapy is the introduction of volatile molecules from distilled plant matter into the body through the olfactory system .. and it works. Was a time I ingested a drop of two in a spoon of Extra-Virgin Olive Oil .. and I might do so again if I felt I needed to gargle it down the old tube to the meat bag .. but I think I now prefer a drop or two in a nice lentil soup .. helps the taste considerably and provide the needed therapeutic value. On the Idma List now (which I can access to read but I can't reply while I am in a travel status and operating from my server's Post Office) they are discussing lower back pains .. basically, they are discussing spasms though they haven't made that too clear methinks. As one who has periodic bouts with a psyatic nerve .. pardon the spelling but I just found out that my folks do not have a friggin dictionary here in the store .. :-( .. I'll tell those who have been fortunate enough to not have experienced this that it is a mogengater fer'shur. A couple of times a year I roll out of the bed and then pull myself up off the floor by hanging onto furniture. Well .. a year or so past I discovered the fantastic antispasmodic properties of Origanum .. just sniff it on a cloth for a minute of so and within 5-10 minutes the pain stops. That is a GUARANTEE!!!!!!!! Part II: > Yes I`ve quit I`m too afraid to take it I was a scatching fool (:> Gonna be interesting to see if it goes away .. but if I had to place odds I'd lean HEAVILY toward the fact that a TRUE, PURE Origanum will NOT cause such a reaction. > I have never taken oregano oil before, I have never been alergic to anything that I > can remember of either. I thought it was the hives but it seems like everywhere > there was a welp I now have a rash is this how the hives do?? Could be .. I've never had them nor seen them and don't have my medical dictionary here .. its in my office in Turkey. > I am not a sick person as a rule and don`t go to drs. so I can use all the help I > can get. You didn't say (or I missed it) what the problem was in the first place .. why you felt a need to take Origanum. You weren't feeling well .. but what do you think the problem was? Origanums are HIGHLY anti-microbial .. I have kicked colds and strep in 12-18 hours consistently .. and though we can't really kill a virus we can cause it to stop reproducing and go back into retrograde .. this is highly effective during flu season and we have had great success in my office in avoiding long-term effects of flu whilest folks around us were dropping like flies. I am wondering what they gave you .. and in what kind of container it had been stored prior to you getting it .. and how long it had been in the " capsule. " NEVER have I heard of a negative reaction to Origanum .. but there is a first time for everything. Still .. I am not leaning toward that being the cause of the reaction. > Thank you > Sandra Welcome fer'shur .. get well soon .. and keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
Guest guest
First I would like to thank everyone that has answered my plea for help, Butch I was getting a cold and so since eveyone talked so highly of oregano oil thought I`d try it, I don`t know that this was it just that it is the only thing [that I can think of ] that I`ve done different. I also live on a farm and have lots of animals and am around lots of weeds so who know what I`ve been into. I have been ok all day and now it is coming back, I have been under alot of stress in the last few months and some of my friends think it could be my nerves, husband had a 5 way by-pass my mom a stroke and is now in my care I lost my nephew and a cousin it has been a really bad year so maybe it is nerves, but why now when things are getting better?Just wanted to see what y`all thought. On the bottle it says it is oil of oregano extract [Origanum vulgare 150 mg in a base of extra virgin olive oil , the company is Solaray. Butch let me know when you get back home and I`ll order some from you. Thanks Sandra Hi Sandra, find out what it is so it doesn`t happen > again I've never heard of anyone having a negative reaction to any of the TRUE Origanums .. that is, Oroganum vulgare, Origanum onites, Origanum dubium or Origanum marjorana .. but I suppose it is impossible. But breaking out in a rash or something similar to hives .. that is even more of a surprise to me.
