Guest guest
Chris This timely post about the 'areawide' eradication project just showed up in the fl.gardening newsgroup. Since Texas is included, thought I'd pass it along. ----------------------------- http://fireant.ifas.ufl.edu/index.htm Just received this info and thought it might be of interest to readers of this list. This is a joint project between the USDA and Florida, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas. While we'll never get totally rid of the little devils it would be great to get them under control. I did have some success this summer keeping the fire ant population under control on my 1/2 acre here in Hernando County by using a combination of baits and broadcasting over the whole area rather then treating individual mounds. Hopefully one day soon we will be able to get the biological controls. -------------http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady ©
