Guest guest
Debbie, You're probably already aware of Kristen Leigh Bell's wonderful book " Aromatherapy for Animals. " If not, I'd suggest you grab a copy as soon as you can. She's quite thorough, knowledgeable, and very clear. I've learned so much from it for my dogs and for myself! I'm a novice in aromatherapy so won't make any other suggestions. Certainly, some of our very wise experts will have some great advice for you. Oh, wait. . .I could share with you that I tried German Camomile (diluted well-- Bell recommends diluting EOs for pets even *more* than you would for a human critter) on a beginning hot spot one of my dogs was working on. It helped heal the spot quickly. *However,* that was not nearly so bad as the infection you're describing for your dog. If one of my beloved canines got such a bad infection, and it wasn't responding to natural methods, I'm afraid I'd go for the antiobiotics. :-/ Good luck. And extra pats to your furry friend. Well, since our flea false alarm, the poor baby has had an infection that we fondly refer to as crotch rot. He had a bug bite, licked it raw, went swimming in icky water and it became infected. The whole area got a rash-like irritation and when nothing natural worked, we ended up at the vet getting poison for him (I have already been through the bad-mommy thing, beating myself up for giving him poison, but you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess). Anyway, he was on antibiotics for 10 days and it cleared it up great. We were also supposed to wash him with some poison shampoo, which I didn't do, b/c I didn't want to double poison him. Well, the pus was back this weekend, so I used the shampoo on him and it irritated the area and he licked it raw again. Here are things I have tried: > - rose hydrosol > - r.h. with a touch of colloidal silver > - lavender hydrosol > - lav, heli in rose hip seed oil > > Any suggestions so that I don't have to take him for more antibiotics would be most welcome! > > Thanks, > Debbie > deb > Beautiful hair ~ naturally! > http://www.debrasrhapsody.com/rhapsody/forthehair.php > >

But FYI, it does have and anti-bacterial ingredient, Triclosan (same ingredient that's in anti-bac soaps.) Thats why it works. At least it did last time I looked. It was made to help soothe the inflammation and infection of mastitis in dairy cow udders, the poor things! JenB
