Guest guest
I found this idea on another list and decided to try it: Put a brick in a large enamel canning pot. Pack fresh herbs (i have used mint, lemon balm, and pineapple sage) all around the brick, leaving the top bare Cover herbs with water - don't go over top of brick. Place glass bowl on brick bring to boil then reduce to simmer put lid on UPSIDE DOWN and place bag of ice in the middle of the lid. keep heat low - slightly simmer As the water simmers, the steam drips down and fills the bowl with scented water, and perhaps a FEW drops of oil. Yesterday I got about a cup of VERY strongly scented lemon balm water with oily droplets on the top. Today I am doing mint and getting a thin layer of oil on the top of the water - whole house is almost eye-burning aromatic. The pineapple sage wasn't so succesfull. TONS of fun!!!!
