Sounds better all the time .. we might catch ol' Big Foot while up there. ;-p > That would be as much fun as it was to visit that > volcano on Hawaii (the Big Island not one of the > others). Nice place that was .. we had a R & R Camp there at one time .. I believe the lava flow caught it and burned it down later. I have some photos of some of us crazy dudes on the edge of some of the craters looking as if we were gonna do a swan dive and the hot gases are all about in the photos. ;-p Some folks might not understand the training flight to pick up flowers. But the crews/pilots had to get so much air time and almost all military exercises were held on the Big Island - plus they had the finest flowers there and shipped daily to other islands and the Mainland. > Friendsville sounds like a nice town. That is correct about the training flights. We did not go just to get flowers. Our pilots had to have a certain number of training hours to keep current in their aircraft. When they went out it was usually a 2 hour flight, which is the exact time to the island of Hawaii. So they refueled in Hilo, Hawaii and while there they ate lunch. Two or Three stores down the street was the flower shop and they would pick up a couple of boxes for their wives/girlfriends. It was one of those little bonus' they received every now and then. > > > That would be as much fun as it was to visit > that > > volcano on Hawaii (the Big Island not one of > the > > others). Nice place too. Sorry for the mix-up in my writing.
