I tried this on this on my gas stove - it got really gloppy and splattery and splashed me everytime I opened the lid - even on low. Back to the covered bowl for me.... It's turning out well though - CinnaMint! yum! JenB
Guest guest
I'm not sure if you can make HP soap on a gas stove because the temp of the flames changes. You might consider buying a single electric hot plate. Then your heat would be constant. I make DHHP all the time on my electric stove. My method is to turn the heat on low when I start putting the oils in and leave it on (that temp) all the way thru till the soap has completed the cook process. This method works very well for me. I do the rest just like Chris. You might consider doing your soap the oven method. Let us know how it works for you. Guest guest
Hi Jen, At the moment I do have an electric stove (ceramic top), but I used to have a gas stove. I guess the gas stove I had had a REALLY low - low setting ... yep, if the heat is too high you'll definately have issues like you mentioned below. A double boiler could work for smaller batches, or turning the heat off and then back on every so often ... *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com > Chris - do you have a gas stove or electric? Guest guest
Hi Chris, You can make soap on the stove. We used a blue granite canner, shorter and wider with water in the bottom of that and then put our stainless steel pot with the soap into the blue granite canner. The stainless pot was taller and more slender. Very nice set up. HTH, Jan S www.sweetprairiesoap.com jans e-mail for paypal
