Oh phooey, my dog has fleas! He is 6 years old and has never had a problem, but

I took him to the vet last week suspecting something b/c he's been scratching

and shedding excessively and chewing at his tail area. The vet missed it, but a

former dog trainer and groomer was visiting today and told me -- grrrr to the

vet, but I guess it is better this way b/c he would have just given me

chemicals.

Anyway, since we are a chemical-free household, any and every natural suggestion

is most welcome. I know how to repel them with essential oils, a lot of good

that does me now, LOL, but I don't know how to kill them and rid my house of

them, oh yeah, and my dog, too, LOL! Help, help, help!

Thanks,

Debbie

Dear Debbie,

When my son moved home from St Louis about 5 years ago, we drove down to follow

him home. He at first said he didn't need help, but after a little thought he

said his truck was running a little rough, he would be pulling a trailer. And

his pit would be riding shotgun.

When ever we traveled I always carried my travel EO's.

His dog had fleas. I told him we were not leaving until the dog had a bath, and

I would make up something to kill the fleas. Well the dog didn't get the bath,

so before we left I made my mixture, put in in a mason jar with water. I rubbed

the dog all over on the one side, my son had to help to turn her over for the

other. It stunk.

I know I never would go anywhere without Patchouli, Lavender, Eucalyptus.

I for some reason remember Geranium, maybe it was Rose Geranium, yet I don't

think so. I also would have had Rosewood. Wish I could remember more.

Whatever I made, it was mix and use. I knew I would have to reapply something a

few day after we got home, as I didn't was any eggs in my house. We had a dog

and cat, I did not want fleas.

Somehow I forgot to do a second does in a few days. What ever I mixed, she

never got another flea. It must have killed every egg also as the other dog and

my cat never got fleas either.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Good Luck.

Nancy

If your dog has fleas you probably have an infestation that affects your

whole house, yard, garage and cars. Once you have an infestation I know of

no natural way to get rid of the fleas. I had this happen once and used

chemicals to treat everything except my dogs. Then I treated everything

again after two weeks. The infestation was gone and so were the fleas on my

dogs.

You can get a flea comb and get a lot of them off your dog that way without

using chemicals. But that won't take care of all the other places fleas

live and breed. And don't forget that the little bugs can jump 2 feet so

treating fences is a good idea too ;o)

Good luck, Sherry

P.S. If you want to contact me privately I'll let you know where I got my

flea comb and chemical at a very good price.
