Does anyone have the recipe for vicks.

I do somewhere, but with my power out, It could take me forever to find.

Told my Dr I would mix the oils for my Husband to use in a steam, with towel

over his head. Now I can't find the recipe.

Plus I get stress something with my heart makes me so sleepy I can't stay awake.

So I'm not doing to good finding the recipe.

My other granddaughter went home last night, think they are trying to empty

hospital of as many as possable.

My son had power going to pick her up, just haven't heard from him to know if he

did when he got home with the baby.

Its odd how some places have it and other don't.

TIA

Hi Nancy,

Sorry, can't help ya with the Vick's recipe, but if you do find it,

or get one from someone else off list, please forward it :) Aside fom

the petroleum base it is in, Vicks has always been a good thing

during cold season :)

I hope the power situation is much better at this point for ya and

hope all the relatives are doing okay (and you too of course)!

Hi,

I've never done this myself, but, what about getting some of the

supplies for soap-making, like beeswax, and some waxes that are soft at

room temp, and mixing in lots a good dose of Eucalyptus? Maybe some

Rosemary, True Ravensara, etc.? If it comes out to hard, mix in some

liquid oils, like olive, or whatever.

Effie,

RE: your back problem and nerve pain: were you in an accident? Is that

why you had to have back surgery? It sounds like you must be in

terrible pain.

Can you give me a more exact location where you are? Then I might be

able to locate good chiropractor for you. Also, if you could find a

good acupuncturist, and a very good physical therapist. I know you've

had the PT, but maybe doing all 3 in conjunction would be more helpful.

Here is a nice simple one that can actually be a base for other things also

1 Cup oil, I use Olive Oil (approx 6 oz)

1/4 cup Beeswax - (Approx 1 oz)Less wax for a softer ointment

Sorry for the approximate weights as I usually do not make a small batch.

You can add about 3ml Eucalyptus EO for a Vicks like ointment. I use infused

Chamomile for the oil for this as it sooths at the same time. Each person is

different in what their body's can take for EO's so you may want to test and

experiment a little.

Dear Chris, Rebecca, and Linda.

Thanks for the help. I'm only in need of he oils that go into vicks.

I know I do have the recipe on a cd, I always transfer my files to cd's. Just I

can't remember if I have it under recipes, EO's, AT. even some health topics.

Our Dr nows I can do better then buying Vicks at the store.

If I can find it, yes I will send it in.

I have probably 60 CD with files on them.

Our power finally went back on this afternoon. We left the air off, thinking of

the elderly that needed the power more then us. As we were leaving to go out to

dinner, I remembered my husband isn't allowed to be in humidity, cold, extreem

heat due to his heart. When we were pulling out of garage the ac kicked on. He

said how good it felt. then I remembered, he said no wonder he was having such a

hard time today.

I seem to forget we are also getting older,LOL, Oh well I'll start to search

the CD's.

Keep me out of trouble for some time.

Thanks Nancy

I think the ingredients for the vicks are right on the label. It's probably

menthol and eucalyptus. I know a tiny bit about " menthol crystals " that are

for sale on various sites. They dissolve in alcohol and also eo's. I've

taken some eucalyptus, added some of these crystals, then diffused a bit in the

rooms when we have colds. But I don't know about skin use. I'm sure the

suppliers who sell them would know or could find out.

Hi Christy,

Guess it the one place I never thought to look. Oh course we don't keep it in

the house, no little kids. Plus my first learning about the EO's years ago, I

stopped buying the normal things I use to.

I have menthol crystals, even camphor. These are things I would never sell when

in business.

No wonder I went out of business. If I didn't feel the person didn't understand

the dangers, or how to use a oil. I was out of stock. LOL

Menthol I bought for a class I was in.

That could be where the recipe is for the vicks.

Thanks for the help.
