Guest guest
Hi, I use comet zapper, but I think thats just for pop up ads... so maybe not what you need??? I like this one because when it zaps an ad it sounds like a bug zapper. I can deal with that!! It is also easy to turn off if it interferes with anything. Thanks, becky The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell. Don't go back to sleep! ---- Wednesday, July 30, 2003 11:59:29 OT: Spam Blockers Anyone have a favorite (or least favorite) spam blocker program? Thanks! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com

When you first install it, you have to go through the mail as it comes into the MailWasher program. You then tell it what to do with each one(i.e. label it " friend " , " blacklist/bounce " , etc.). Then the next time a message comes in from that address, it follows whatever instructions you gave it. After awhile it starts to learn what to do. But you still have to always open MailWasher before you open your email software. Let MailWasher do its thing (deletes stuff off your mail server), and then download your good mail into your email software. > 1. That's what the " blacklist " selection is for. -- Sandy
Guest guest
Hi Sandy, Chris .. other good folks .. > chris wrote: > > Anyone have a favorite (or least favorite) spam blocker program? > > My favorite was the one that came with my Earthlink account. What do you mean .. it cleans out the mail afore it downloads? Like .. now I go into my Server Post Office each morning and find 300 or so emails .. and I eliminate 90% of them because they are SPAM .. really. But I can not allow a program to automatically eliminate mail because of the weird addresses some of my orders have .. many foreign folk don't have English keyboards so an address in English might be Joe Doe <joe but when it is sent and hits my server its & %#^ & () <joe So .. you can see that it is not easy to allow a system to eliminate mail. But I have to have some kind of Blocker because: 1. I am going to the USA soon and often will be operating with a Lap Top .. and it downloads slower than pouring molasses in January. 2. I need something to send the SPAM emails back to the sender as if my address was not functional .. otherwise they sell it to others. 3. Because of this http://www.lindqvist.com/index.php?newkatID=75 Will SPAM close down the I-Net? Palaver did that to C-B Channels. OR will the gummit be forced to take action .. as Virginia has done? If y'all can kick this one up a bit it would be appreciated by me and most likely by a lot of other folks on the list. :-P Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
