My favorite way to beat the heat? Move to Antartica.

>sigh< Barring that, what I like to do when it gets really nasty hot like

today and I have the time (this is NOT an ad, it's what I REALLY like to do), I

pop three Woobey type pillows into the freezer, then I take the first one out

(after it's been in for 2 hours) and I lay down with this thing over my face.

BLISS, it's so cold! Then I'll move it to say tummy or chest, back of neck or

back to face...

After about 30 minutes, I'll replace it with a fresh one, etc. I like to keep

two or three in the freezer. It helps a lot with the heat headaches I get too

during this awful stuff! YECH!

Spritzers are nice, but I personally find that getting wet can feel a bit

uncomfortable after a while...

Anyway, If you have one, try it, it really does feel nice.

Cheers!

Being that we're having a heat wave here I was thinking it might be nice

if everyone shared their favorite ways (including recipes) to beat the

heat. Other than hiding in air conditioning (*LOL*) I like to make fresh

ice cream, frozen popsicles, aromatherapy spritzers, etc .. I'll post

some recipes in a bit, my hubby needs my help in the bathroom he is

refinishing right now (fixing the house to sell it - so I can move some

place even hotter ;-p)

Oregon is having some heat too! Besides swimming I make a lot of iced tea

and cook as little as possible so tonight I am making a Tuna Pasta Salad

(not the boxed kind) served on a bed of lettuce with tomato (from my garden)

slices and avocado. I love lemon so made a dessert from my childhood called

Lemon Bisque. No baking at all and it is cool and yummy:->> Last night I sat

on my deck after my shower and spritzed with Butch's Rose Hydrosol, drank

iced tea and looked at the stars. There was a gentle breeze from the river

and I felt so at peace.....and smelled like a rose. How I love summer:o)

You are right, Kathleen. That's the only way to go so you don't feel sticky

after getting wet the other way.

I do the same, exact thing to stay cooler and it really works. I even use on

when I sleep.
