Guest guest
Too funny about the catnip! I, too, thinks it reeks. And some of you have read my previous posts that I had a l oz bottle of catnip break in shipment to my house. I opened the box inside, and discovered the catnip everywhere inside the box, all over everything, including the other stuff I had bought. As I'm picking through it all, the aroma is quickly filling the house! House smelled of catnip for a while....didn't see many bugs during that time, tho. Reading all the research that it's such a wonderful bug repellent was encouraging, then after smelling it, I couldn't fathom putting it on my skin. Great, it keeps the critters away, but would repel everybody ELSE, also! I didn't even bother trying to mask the scent, I just mixed it up with some other bug-repeling oils and sprinkled it OUTside around my doors and windows. I would think citrus oils would improve it, but, then, you wouldn't want to put that on your skin. Butch's ideas sound good, but I'm not terribly fond of the smell of those oils, either. So if anybody comes up with a skin-safe blend that doesn't stink, but includes catnip, I'd love to hear it! Christy - Butch Owen Friday, July 18, 2003 3:46 PM Catnip: Ewwwwww! Yuck!!! Is it just me or does this stuff > smell absolutely awful? I don't know if > I'll be able to stand the smell of myself if I wear it. Funny this is .. some folks (including me) think it stinks .. but some of the ladies on the Alaska Soap List said it was not bad at all. Now I would rather smell a dead rat 6 days ripe than I would Poison Perfume - but I reckon some folks like it cause they foul the air with it often. And even I think it doesn't smell so bad after a few minutes. I know a lady who is mixing a tad of Lemon Eucalyptus, Citronella and Cedarwood, Atlas with the Catnip .. she says its still very effective but smells nicer. I have used it at 5% in Fractionated Coconut and not been bothered by the odor. Now many folks like Patchouli .. think it smells spicey and flowery and such - some even register it similar to eucalyptus. I'm with them that say it smells like dead hippies. ;-p > Sherri Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
