Guest guest
Hello, I am new to your group, and I wonder if anyone could explain to me the difference, or similarities, if there are any, of these two forms of natural 'medicines'. They both are derived from the essential oils of plants, so I thought they were very similar in nature, but I'm confused by different viewpoints. Thanks, Sandra
Guest guest
Hi Sandra Welcome to the group I'll post more on this when I have a chance to later (or maybe someone else can pick up on the informational slack on this one) but in a nutshell .... Essential Oils used in Aromatherapy are the volatile oils from plant matter. They work on a physical level and do so by primarily deriving their potency from the bio-chemical action of physical constituents. Flower Essences on the other hand are more like homeopathic medications in a sense and their potency is from " vibrational " or " subtle energetic " properties. I'll try to get in to this a bit more later .. The natives are getting restless over here But I can tell you doubters out there - I have both homeopathic medications and flower essences on both babies and pets (both of those groups are not tainted by preconceived notions or the placebo effect) and they have worked very well. *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com > > Sandra [sc62] > Thursday, July 17, 2003 8:13 AM > > Aromatherapy and Bach Flower Remedies > > > Hello, > > I am new to your group, and I wonder if anyone could explain > to me the difference, or similarities, if there are any, of > these two forms of natural 'medicines'. > > They both are derived from the essential oils of plants, so I > thought they were very similar in nature, but I'm confused by > different viewpoints. > > Thanks, > > Sandra
Guest guest
Dear Marge and Christine, I have been away, and still trying to get caught up with everything. I appreciated your responses and explanations of the differences between these two. It seems to me that, being both products of the flower oils, that whatever the flower essences are able to do, the essential oils should also be capable of, without the use of both. Just dilute the oils, for same diluted effect? I know that's not hte same as the vibrational effect, but if you have to start somewhere, I think aromatherapy would be a good starting point. And, since I make my onw tinctures now, I can add the oils to them. I purchased the books, " Essential Aromatherapy " by Susan Wormwood, and " Aromatherapy " by Kathi Keville, so I will be learning more. Are there any that are more basic, or more recommended? I like the formulas that are in the latter one. Thanks, Sandra
