Guest guest
Hi Diana, > Here's how I got the bot fly larvae out of my cats neck: made a thick clay paste to draw it overnight. Soak the clay paste off with hot salt water. Use the Sawyer Snake bite kit and use the suction cup that best fits the bite and suction it out slowly. The larvae came out whole and alive. I use the kit to suction out my bites that get infected. Usually have not had to use anything but the smaller suction cup. Works great! > Diana of Dewberry Hill I'm sure that is effective for larvae that large .. but the previous post and my follow on was in reference to microscopic parasites injected when insect critters in Africa, the Middle East and South America grab us. Some of this is accidental on their part .. but sometimes its for the same reasons the bot fly places larva .. to replicate. :-) Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: Those rabbits we used to run down .. we called (don't know why) the larva " wools, " and before releasing the rabbits we bunched up the skin, made a tiny slit and removed those wools. Might sound crude but it was an old tradition in the South, it was the best we could do and it was effective. :-)

Guest guest
Yeah David, the kitty is getting big now...he's my miracle kitty. I see those nasty bot flies outside and do wonder why God made 'em! And even as bad are the kind that you can't see like the kind Butch was talking about, yet they still kill. Well, on to nicer subjects like aromatherapy! Diana of DH Diana, Thanks for being brave enough to take care of the unfortunate kitty. (David Shutters) Butch, a fly infection can kill a rabbit, or certainly make them weaker and more prone to other problems. A friend of mine, did lose a well loved bunny that way. Personally, I HATE parasites SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!
