Guest guest
Hey Dorothy, > Hey Butch and anyone else who has experience with this; My two cents is below .. others might have different ideas. > I have a friend who has a long standing tinitus and sinus infection. > She has been on antibiotics several times and for the most part hasn't > seen a great improvement with the situation. There is a chance that the antibotics caused the tinnitus. But then, there are hundreds of possibilities in that regard .. antibiotics being one of them. Generally, it is a matter of damage to the ear drum and/or nerve damage. > She used to smoke quite a bit but now realizes that the smoking > probably hasn't helped that situation much and is trying to quit. She > hasn't 100% achieved quitting but, has cut way down so she probably > only has a few a week. What's wrong with her? Quitting smoking is easy. I have done it at least 25 times. ;-p > She has had surgery on her ears and they are therefore very vulnerable > to infections and such. She experiences tinitus almost constantly. The surgery is also a possible cause. I have experienced CONSTANT tinnitus since summer 1993 .. I had a terrible summer cold and they doused me with antibiotics .. the ringing started then and has not stopped since then. Sometimes I have to play a radio at night to get to sleep .. especially if I am really tired and concentrate on the ringing. I have been told that the best way to stop it is to clip the nerves .. then we hear nothing. I am serious .. there are some cases that are so bad people have decided it is better to be stone deaf than to live with the constant crickets and bells and whistles and ringing. The sounds can be different and they can change pitch many times in a day. > She has sought mainstream medical advice about this condition but > nothing has been able to help the condition and so is not looking > into alternative means as her doctor has basically said that it is > just something that she will have to live with. I agree with the doctor. If they can find no organic cause that can be kicked with surgery or medication .. then she just has what I have .. a wind tunnel that is fooling the nerves and making them (and me) think there is sound there. > I was thinking that given the trouble her ears and sinuses are giving > her right now she could probably benefit from using some Oregano. Lemme say this .. the sinuses CAN be a cause of the tinnitus .. in fact it might be easier to list what can NOT be a cause rather than what CAN be a cause. So I'm not going to address the tinnitus because I just do not believe we have anything in AT that will help it. BUT .. for sinus infections Oregano and Rosemary are fantastic. For many, many years I had recurring sinus infections .. a couple and sometimes 3 times a year. In fact, it was ONE sinus infection that was just never totally cleared up. It is not easy. Back around 95 or 96, can't really remember which year it was .. I had a sinus infection and I was just getting smart on Oregano back then .. plus did not want to take any more antibiotics. So, I started sniffing Oregano EO 10-12 times a day .. from a cotton ball. Did it for 4-5 days I did. From then to now .. after many years of recurring sinus infections .. I have NOT had ONE sinus infection .. not one! > So I wanted to ask if anyone has used Oregano for a similar set of > circumstances and if so could they let me know what they did and what > they let me know what they did and what the outcome was? Now you know .. at least from this ol' kuntry boy. And afore someone asks which Oregano EO is best .. the answer is ANY of them except the Origanum dubium Linalool .. all the rest are carvacrol rich and that is what does the job. > Secondly, I wanted to know if anyone had found anything....EO, homeopathic or > naturopathic which they found beneficial for dealing with the tinitus aspect? That question is an interesting one .. the answer will be moreso. ;-p > I recall a discussion a while ago, but I can't remember the details. > I think one of the remedies mentioned was Nat Mur but I remember there > being a difference whether the tinitus seemed to be caused by stress > as opposed to injury. If so, could you post me off-list at > db and let me know what was used? Like I said .. look up tinnitus in any medical reference and you will see that the possible causes would fill up a hard drive. > Lastly, I wanted to ask Butch to contact me off-list about the Oregano > and Virgin Olive Oil. Sorry for putting this out to the list but I am > not at home right now and don't have Butch's email addy here available > to me. Now you have it. And reference Olive Oil .. I was going to go out to all those who have been waiting for it .. and still will .. but I will mention something here too. Early-Harvest Extra-Virgin Olive Oil .. that is, below 1% oleic acid .. I just learned on Friday that there will be none this year! There is plenty of the 1% Extra-Virgin but that is not what I sold before .. mine was max .07%. The producers really don't want to export it and though they are not officially saying NO now .. they have fixed the export price at more than 10 X the price we pay retail in the supermarkets. ;-( Nobody could afford it if I sent it .. not at the prices I would have to pay. My buying price here now is more than my selling price used to be in the USA .. and that's before I add shipping cost. It is not always easy to do business here .. lots of games and smoke and mirrors. So .. that's where we are. My recommendation is to go to a fancy wine and cheese shop and hope they have some with an oleic acid content that low. If you can't find below 1% then use the 1% Extra Virgin. Sorry but that's the way it is. :-( > Thanks for any input in advance. Looking forward to reviewing your > replies. > Dorothy Welcome you are .. and y'all keep smiling. :-) Butch http://www.AV-AT.com
