OT: Renewing Faith in Mankind

Hi y'all,

 

Life is not easy here sometimes. Bureaucratic humma humma to the max ..

enough to drive one to drink. Example .. I have a duty free automobile,

a 1985 Mercedes Classic. In order to not pay VERY high taxes on the car

I was required (when I purchased it in 1995) to post a Bank Letter of

Guarantee that I wouldn't sell it .. cost then was a bit over $2,000.

However, inflation has eaten the value of Letter of Guarantee down to

around $320 now .. so they passed a law that said the folks with such

letters had to deposit more to bring it back it to the original amount

and the law is retroactive. Don't look for the logic cause it ain't

there. ;-(

 

And while I was grousing and raising cain about this .. I got a note

from a feller in Serbia. He wanted to buy some Origanum in February

last but wanted to send cash .. told him I took only credit cards but he

had none. I sent the Origanum and told him if he ever got a CC to send

me the money .. wasn't much .. $10.77 including shipping. Well today he

sent me credit card information. :-)

 

So .. things offset each other sometimes .. at least in my mind.
