Guest guest
Hi Sandy Neither of these are an herb or oil but they are my first thoughts ... coffee in soap REALLY helps to " de-stink " stuff .. and baking soda is the other thing that came to mind. Happy Soaping! *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com ---- Sandy <diamonique Are there any herbs and/or essential oils that have deodorizing properties? I'm thinking of playing around with a recipe for deodorant soap. -- Sandy

Guest guest
Butch, I don't want to get close enough to a skunk hide to even think about what to do to deodorize it. Guest guest
Yo Sandy, > Are there any herbs and/or essential oils that have deodorizing > properties? I'm thinking of playing around with a recipe for deodorant > soap. > -- Sandy There are many essential oils that will deodorize a stinky area .. some do so by kicking butt on big bad bugs .. others merely mask bad odors. But I doubt the existence of a truly deodorizing soap .. that is, one that will last more than an hour or even less under adverse weather conditions. Herbs are a different matter .. and I'm not gonna go there cause I am smart enough to know when I am not smart .. so I shut up. But Woobey Gal uses herbs in her products and lots of other folks use herbs .. and considering that they are not all that volatile we can sorta figure the odors will hang around longer than will those of an essential oil. First .. some folks smell nice when they perspire .. I've known quite a few ladies who did and this is not intended to be a sexist statement but I'm not used to sniffing menfolks when they perspire. Other folks can smell like a skunk an hour after coming out of the shower .. but in both cases its not a matter of outer layer dermal odors but excretions from deeper than that. And soap does not hang around long enough to do a heckuva lot about that .. health and diet and such makes the difference. And .. this also holds true for the so-called antibacterial soaps. I'm thinking there is no reason to try to kill bacteria on our skin beyond that of using the fatty lift-off capability of soap to remove them whut have done bit the dust and started to turn into what all dead things will turn to. In fact, removal of all bacteria from our skin is almost a sure-fire guaranteed method of ensuring we gonna stink purty soon. If you want to know how to deodorize a kitchen .. use Oregano EO and I can give you scientific information on the results of such studies. If you want to deodorize a carpet then use Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora) and I have some info on that too. There are many ways to deodorize .. but deodorants and/or anti-perspirants themselves aren't all the commercial folks claim them to be .. and soaps are even less. Now .. having thrown all that out .. you soap making folks can now start throwing your rocks at me. ;-p Y'all keep smiling, Butch http://www.AV-AT.com PS: If you want to deodorize a skunk hide .. you rub it with buffalo brains .. and to deodorize the buffalo brains .. you gotta take one of them folks whut was captured on the last horse raid and are now serving as a hooch maid and make'em gnaw on that hide and soften it .. pretty soon it will smell like whatever that hooch maid had for lunch. :-(
Guest guest
No, this really is a thing, Kathleen's right! It is like when you take too many antibiotics, there become super-bugs that are resistant to antibiotics. It is the same thing with using antibacterial soaps. Here are some articles I found on the web about it: http://www.mercola.com/2000/sept/24/antibacterial_soaps.htm http://www.nurseweek.com/features/98-10/soap.html http://abcnews.go.com/sections/living/DailyNews/soaps000907.html Debbie deb Declare your independence from chemical-laced products! www.debrasrhapsody.com - " Karla@Moonfairy Circle " <info Wednesday, July 02, 2003 11:02 PM Re: Deodorizing Oils & Herbs? > > PLease do share your scientific data on this with us. > Sounds like someone making excuses for not wanting to shower..LMAO > Karla > ---- > > Did you know...
